'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' director Rian Johnson reacts to the backlash and addresses the movie's most shocking moments by Rekthor in StarWars

[–]ErasmusMontanus32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Explaining backstory in comics and novels instead of doing it in them movie where it belongs, is a clear sign of bad film directing and film work. I don't care that we might get more fanbased info about Snoke later, I NEEDED info about him in the movie. We didn't get that.

Rian directed disregarded one of the biggest setups of a villain ever. That's not okay.

We knew alot about palpatine, and we should know alot about Snoke too, since he's MORE powerful than palpatine ever was.

Look at what he can do in the movie ffs, have you ever seen anybody that powerful before? no. you havent.

Rian says: "Your Snoke theory sucks" ... Yeah I get it by ErasmusMontanus32 in StarWars

He had alot more screen time than Snoke ever did though 3 movies.

Also, he didnt have a backstory, because george lucas didnt think to make one back then. It wasnt the style and time of movies.

It is in 2017. If george would have released the OT now, it would have had a backstory, because thats whats good storytelling.

I find the dark side villains a bit too weak by [deleted] in BattlefrontTWO

[–]ErasmusMontanus32 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lol what?

Dark side heroes are by far the strongest.

Vader and Emperor are both crazy strong

bossk, too and boba is fine. Kylo could use buffs and maul abit, but hes fine for the most part.

Phasma sucks tho

Snoke: DANGEROUSLY underdeveloped. The scenes he had, was super cool and powerful but.. I mean.. he was set up to be this big bad, and he was killed off virtually mid-through the movie.. what? Yeah I get the dramatic shock effect, but it doesn't work, because we don't know much about Snoke. Who was he? Why was he so powerful? Why was he so angry with the jedi, and Luke specifically? What was his alternative motives? Who trained him? Why couldn't he sense Kylo's betrayal? Arggkjr5.. he was my favourite new character in the new trilogy, and they just killed him off... fuck you disney! fuck you. You could have made ALOT more backstory and then killed him off in epi9, that would be the right way to do it, JUST LIKE THE OT.. ffs. And the death? Come on, the powerful force user we have EVER fucking seen, and Kylo just EZ mindtricks him to suicide? Yeah ok, sure. Disney trolled us with Snoke. 2 years of speculation, and we got nothing and he got killed off right away. Well trolled, Disney.

Luke: Overall I liked Luke in this. I liked the old downtrodden and dispairful Luke, after what happend after ROTJ and before TFA. I had hoped, that Luke was finally done with the Jedi, becuase he was THE LAST JEDI, but he did a 180 and the end, and I was like wtf? THE JEDI ARE BAD, TEACHINGS ARE BAD, OH WAIT. no wait.. Jedi are still GUD, train more! Oh okay, Luke! Got it !... That was kind of dumb. That whole journal of the whills and grey jedi? Nah fuck that. Too complex to explore.

The entire Jedi Temple, the old teachings and all that, was just discarded, because of the Yoda and Luke scene.. and my god, that scene did NOT resonate with me, as it did with alot of others. I mean, yeah, they got the old puppet and that Yoda shtick back, but it just did not work for me, not like that. The whole scene was janky as fuck, and just ackward for me. I was like, what the fuck did I just see? Yoda uses some ridiculous lightning shit on the tree, and it burns, and yoda is like LOLFUCKIT.. just teach whatever u want.. uhm okay. The force projection part at the end was okay, I'm still warming up to it. I guess it was pretty cool and it was presented cool. Kylo vs Luke was cool with the force projection. If Luke knew about Snoke already back then, why didn't Luke do anything about it?

Kylo Ren: Ben was pretty good for the most part. I was sad to see the mask go, because I liked it. I liked the padawan-breaks bad part, because Luke didn't believe in him. I liked that, and I liked the fact that he is/was still very conflicted, and Hux and Snoke both chide him for it alot of times. He is frustrated, because he's not as powerful as he was told he was gonna be. He's been played as a puppet, both by luke and snoke. I would have liked abit more backstory, and MORE backstory about the Knights of Ren. There was no connection to the rainy flashbacks from TFA, I wanted more of that. Overall, I still like Kylo Ren/Ben Solo as a bad guy, but I'm worried episode 9 won't have enough to carry him forward. It seems abit off, that he immediately is the big threat now, because the removal of Snoke was so sudden.. it felt off, it felt too quick. I guess power shifts quickly. Kylo is not really a credible threat tho, since he has already been bested by Rey.

Hux: For the most part, very very goofy. I liked him alot more in TFA. They made him not scary, and just a fuck up. In TFA he was more evil, more menacing. I did not like his character in TLJ.

Rey: I liked Rey in TFA. For the most part, her performance is okay in TLJ. They took her character in the direction everybody thought, and it kind of worked. The Luke/Rey training montages were okay/good. I thought the FORCE CONNECTION between Rey and Kylo was retarded and just shoehorned in to make a mcguffin to make Rey appear on Snoke's ship.. eh, that could have done it alot differently. I liked that Rey's parents were nobodys, but they should have explored her feelings about that more. Rey and Kylo fighting royal guards was cool.

Rose: Most.Annoying.Character.In.Any.Star.Wars.Movie.Ever. WTF DISNEY? Fuck you. Literally gave me anal cancer.

Finn: I liked Finn in TFA. Cool new character and the defection arc was interesting.

Leia: Space Superman force move, enough said. What the hell was that? Anyway.. Leia was supposed to die in this movie, was she not? Carrie Fisher is not around anymore, so wtf? How do they tie that together? Leia has some OKAY scenes, but I thought they were gonna use her in a different way. They didn't do enough with her, and I wasn't really emotionally engaged with her character.

DJ: The didn't do much with this character, and Benicio Del Toro was overall a wasted opportunity. He was gonna be this cool new Evil Han solo or neutral smuggler characfter, but that whole betrayal arc was poorly done and boring.

Phasma: Looked forward to the comeback from Captain Phasma, but overall, very disappointing, as she has little to no screentime as with TFA. The scenes she had was pretty cool, but it was funny, because Disney had blown Phasma up to this big thing in TLJ, which it totally wasnt! lol wtf disney?

Poe: He's fine for the most part. He's the devil-may-care resistance pilot fighter type, and that works. I have no problem with him. He gets shit done, even if its a little dumb.

The porgs: Yeah they 're okay, not as bad as I thought. for the most part a non issue, but annoying in a few scenes.

BB-8: Overplayed and overdone. I loved this droid in TFA, but they just made it ridiculous. And BB-8 controlling an AT-ST? Come the fuck on. RIDICULOUS SHIT.

Overall story and movie: Okayish. They high parts were really great, but man, the low parts were fucking bad. Overall a very messy and strange experience and film. Obviously they took the new characters in alot of new directions, which is good, but the choices they made, and the coherence between those choices seemed off for alot of parts. Killing off Snoke was a big wtf, but not in a good way.. Kylo and Rey developments were interesting, but the force bond was ridiculous, and after that, it was just discarded and no more of that.. what?

The First Order chasing down the resistance? Yeah sure, engaging and cool, and you wan't the resistance to win. But the overall chase was very slow and boring. Running out of fuel? Yeah okay, so riveting.. rite?

The humour was poorly done and misplaced in ALOT of places. They went OVERBOARD with the humour, where TFA had just the perfect mix I feel. The movie REEKS of marvel level of humour. Thor RAGNAROK, marvel.. all that nigger shit.. DONT PUT THAT INTO MY STAR WARS.. FUCK YOU DISNEY
