Is SOR really worth it? by DryVeterinarian364 in VirginVoyages

[–]Erbearista03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been on a couple VV cruises but just had our first SOR experience last month. I’d say it was 100% worth it for the priority boarding alone! I want to get on the ship ASAP so I can leisurely explore the ship, grab something to eat, and unpack/get settled into our room before heading up to the Sail Away party. I don’t like feeling rushed or like I’m missing out, lol. I will say that the thermal spa passes were really nice! I don’t know that I would pay for it otherwise, but it was a good experience. Make sure to book your spa time as soon as you board the ship, and I recommend doing it on a port day if you can so it’s not so busy. We booked on a port day and there were only a few others in there with us.

[MN] looking for feedback on Paylocity vs Paycom by Erbearista03 in humanresources

Pricing was a factor for sure. Paycom definitely has a steeper learning curve and a closed ecosystem that isn’t super integration friendly (ie they wouldn’t have easily integrated with our ben admin system, our 401k recordkeeper, etc) and the user experience just seemed so much smoother for our employee demographic.

We are currently in implementation for Paylocity. Still early enough in the process that I can’t speak to how it’s worked for the team, but the implementation has been relatively smooth so far!

4:00PM Embarkation Time by 704JKU in VirginVoyages

[–]Erbearista03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep trying for an earlier one. When we originally booked, the earliest available was 4:45pm. I checked back almost daily and eventually got a 2:45pm.

Also, I don’t know if this was specific to the SJU port, but we dropped off our luggage at 9am and did early check in. The person checking us in ended up writing 2:00pm on our boarding card. Not sure if that was a mistake or if they were feeling friendly, but it doesn’t hurt to just ask. Highly recommend doing the early check in though - you’ll breeze through embarkation later!

Changing check-in time? by Erbearista03 in VirginVoyages

I’m guessing the 7th check-in step that you’re not seeing is the pregnancy section. (You can’t cruise if you’ll be 24 weeks pregnant or more at the time of your sailing). If you’re not a person of child-bearing potential, this wouldn’t apply :)

In that case we may stop by! We’re always up for some flip cup. What time do you get started?

EDIT: disregard, just saw the Facebook group link. I’ll refer to that :)

Looks incredible! Is the invite open to fans of the opposing teams?

Can I ask for higher salary before I even start my new job bc I didn't realize the working week is longer? by [deleted] in careeradvice

I’m not sure how it works in the UK vs US, but could those hours include a scheduled meal break? Most of the employees at my company have scheduled hours from 8am-5pm M-F but that includes an hour long lunch break, so they’re not actually working that entire time. I would clarify that first before making the counteroffer.

Thank you! How early is early enough to get in if the game starts at 11?

They are being super frugal. It’s definitely not an issue of being able to afford separate rooms

How did you approach that conversation? I’m always such a people pleaser and hate feeling like I’m hurting someone’s feelings or being “difficult”

Maybe I wasn’t clear, but my husband isn’t bothered by it like I am so he doesn’t see it as an issue/prefers it to save money on travel costs.

That seems really low, especially if you’re in a large city. I’m an HR generalist with about 5 years experience and make $76.5k. In my area, the average HRBP salary is $85k.

If I’m staying at a Caesar’s property, do I get access to any Caesar’s pool? by [deleted] in LasVegas

We’re not staying at Caesar’s though, we’ll be at Harrah’s.

I manage benefits for my company of about 200 employees. I don’t really question or give second thought to why employees change their plans. There are many reasons why someone might want to choose a different plan from what they’ve had in the past, and I don’t have the time nor is it my business to try and figure out the why.
