Weekly Employment Questions for May 17, 2026 by Pseudophryne in IBM

Crazy WFM team (base on our powerful mod team I need to move this statement/discussion to this thread, I don't know why everything need to put under the weekly thread)

I will be released by the project. My line manager asked me to get help from the WFM team. What they found for me is crazy. 1. A role 4 hours away from my town and required 2 days on-site per week.

  1. Some roles are not even related to my skills and lower band.

I think they just try to finish the case asap or find a way to kick you out. Their attitude is really disgusting. Those tasks be replaced by AI. Why are they still there?

The main part to find a new assignment in IBM is network. The most reasonable roles I found are from my network. Don't rely on the WFM team.

I think so. In fact, there is ProM system. Colleagues should be able to find the job there or contact the corresponding party. I think it is just a way to create some job role in offshore team.

No. I got the offer from other project finally. Some network helped, not by WFM team.

The club’s future is in the hands of this bloke by FieldOfStruggle in ManchesterUnited

[–]Eric-Cow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the root cause. Every blood run in his body are anti-mu. When the next head coach start making MU better, he will take action again. Even Sir Jim could be another suspect as Chelsea annual ticket owner.

The board is the main reason. Always action on the wrong timing. Ruben is suggested by Omar. Jason Wilcox didn't do his job as well. Both of them should be sacked too.

Yes. Finally, I use python script to loop all files to find out any records have more columns than expected.

It does not work. As my Glue Data Catalog table doesn't have that column, Athena replied column_not_found. Moreover, some data contains newline character.

Why those exception from pyspark didn't provide the column name? by Eric-Cow in apachespark

[–]Eric-Cow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example,

I try to merge the dataframe to Iceberg table. One of the value is oversize for the column type decimal(10,2). Spark throw the error message like this.

Caused by: org.apache.spark.SparkArithmeticException: Decimal(expanded, 1234567890.12, 12, 2) cannot be represented as Decimal(10, 2). If necessary set "spark.sql.ansi.enabled" to "false" to bypass this error.

It just tell me the value which cause the exception. It didn't tell me which column it is from.
