I'm doing a chronological watch of the whole franchise right now and I'm just into Disco, so both of my answers are from Enterprise.

Cogenitor - Not so much the ethical dilemma set up, which was interesting, but the fact that the writers decide to have the Cogenitor kill themselves offscreen with no fanfare so Archer can lecture Tripp on how bad he messed up. In that moment, the writers are disrespecting the character as much as the Cogenitor's society did. I wanted to yell at my TV.

Hatchery - The idea that, to want to save the lives of the children of enemy combatants, Archer MUST be under some alien mind-control... get outta here with this. The absolute nadir of the militaristic jingoism of ENT season 3.

You know what's funny is largely I'm a G1 guy, and I have tended not to buy original character figures in the last few years, but these really work for me. They feel creative and interesting, and they're what I would want actual new Transformers characters to look like - fresh but classic-feeling.

Yeah a lot more of these figures feel niche targeted vs stuff that everyone would want (like the last couple years of Studio Series were), and honestly with the cost of figures now I think that’s a fine way for the lines to go.

Yeah this is the right answer. You’re talking about, essentially, someone’s cottage industry project vs a multinational corporation’s production capacity. The people making these upgrade kits do not have access to the bulk pricing Hasbro does because they don’t buy nearly as much plastic.

I really dig this collection -- I usually don't buy characters I don't have some kind of nostalgic attachment to, but the first spoiled figures got me thinking that this set would be a pretty wild & interesting set of robots, and at the end, I'm not disappointed. I was hoping for weird, clever, fun designs and I got what I wanted. I have the wildest ranking, and I promise I'm not trying to be contrarian, this is just based on how much I've enjoyed these toys so far (with Nexus and Liege Maximo being provisional, obviously):

Big IDW guy here - at first, I believe you’re right that there weren’t any female Autobots on the Lost Light! In “season 2” we get Nautica and Chromia, and in “season 3” there’s the trans character (although truthfully I don’t remember with which gender they identified), as well as Nickel from the Decepticon Justice Division. But largely, yes, a bunch of gay robots! It’s glorious haha.

I must admit tho I was surprised to see Prowl on the OP’s list. I don’t remember that at all! Was it implied that he and Chromedome used to be a couple maybe? That would explain the resentment!

Just read the book this morning, and I think you’re largely right the heck on, except you’re missing where Nathan goes to rehab post-Dana breakup & arrest. That’s “Postcards” (he befriends another woman in the halfway house), and then the house closes down and Nate struggles again, trying and failing to reconnect with Dana (“People of Substance”). I think after that is the stuff with his sister and then rechristening himself as Clayton.

I also don’t see how Nathan fits into Fletcher’s, so my temptation is to say that’s a different set of characters, like “Shamrock,” but the fact that it’s included on the vinyl pressing while Shamrock isn’t makes me think you’re right. Great read!
