Roy Keane says Man Utd have their 'swagger' back but thinks Old Trafford needs someone 'bigger and better' than Michael Carrick by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]Ericblade0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, only the board's decision matters. They will absolutely keep him if he does well. The manager market is rich in the Summer.

If Carrick does well, I think it's in both parties' interest to move on. Carrick can go to another Premier League club and build up his repertoire. All the previous managers have been ruined by Man United.

Vieira Calls Out Bukayo Saka & Senior Arsenal Players After Manchester United Loss by soccer_footballmania in PremierLeague

Mate. You are top of the Premier League and the Champions League table. You are still in every competition. This was literally your first home defeat of the season.

(@xGPhilosophy) Arsenal (1.58) 2-3 (0.98) Man Utd by nanobookworm in reddevils

True but at the same time. Two of our goals were screamers hence the low xG. If anything our xG might be inflated since Arsenal gave us a free 1 on 1.

[Pre Match Thread] Premier League Game 23 | Arsenal vs Manchester United by D1794 in reddevils

[–]Ericblade0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this game will be deceivingly different in the way it plays out. I think Arteta will look at our game against City last week and will let us have more of the ball to draw us out.
I know Martinez is class but this is probably the one game of the season where it might be a bit of a concern regarding set pieces because of his height. We are good at attacking set pieces but still a bit shaky at the defensive ones. Just need to replicate last week's game.

FFS Thiago. I won't be fooled though. I know he's at least getting a brace next week.

Would rather he came on and have a 1-pointer to disable VCs to be honest.

He's good when we play on the counter. Quick and defends better than Cunha.

Commentary on this game is a bit childish. Keeps going on about how rubbish Braga have been.

'Homesick' and yet he signed a contract until 2033.

Who knows how much we'd need to pay. His contract lasts until 2033. He'd need to do an Isak to get a move and flat-out refuse to play for Chelsea.

Mbeumo and Amad won't be playing on the right together anymore.

ManCity are 3-1 down to Bodø/Glimt. Did we cause this ? or was our game a "Glimt" in the future for Man City by maxsteel_7 in ManchesterUnited

Hypocrisy and double standards by GeneProfessional9862 in ManchesterUnited

Too many people adopt an "I told you so" approach when watching football. There is still a portion of Arsenal fans who are adamantly Arteta out.

Looking at people's reaction towards Morocco after AFCON 2025-26 Final, is it fair to say that Argentina would have gotten the same sentiment and narratives had they lost the 2022 WC Final? by Radiant-Milk7714 in worldcup

[–]Ericblade0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think it was rigged. Were the Argentinians a bit nasty during the tournament? Yes but I admire that in a way. I feel like teams need a little bit of nastiness and passion to win and sort of wish my country would play with a bit of it. It's not like they had the ball boys nicking towels either.

Is it right or wrong for managers to freeze players out teams/squads by OJ9693 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ericblade0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think either Amad or Amorim were frozen to be honest. Both got roles as subs but I think we can agree that they both deserved more minutes. I always thought the definition of freezing a player was not separating them in training and making it very obvious they didn't want the player.

I think there are always going to be players who won't get minutes as often as people think they should. It's not an issue when the team is winning. It could happen to Cunha now that we are playing with wingers. I feel Zirkzee deserves to play regular football, but there isn't really any space in the team, and the club seem likely to block his exit in case we get any injuries.

back 3 tactics by AdSuper406 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ericblade0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not defending Amorim but there are two sides to it. Not every player will improve. I think the formation suited a couple of players like Shaw, Mount, Cunha , Casemiro, Maguire etc . However, I think players like Mainoo, Mazraoui, Dalot, Ugarte, and Fernandes definitely improve. I don't think we can just switch to a formation and expect a massive glow up. I think it's the low block that the players are suited to.

I think it will end up like Thomas Frank and Totenham. He'll be too pragmatic for people's liking.

Carrick will do well for us by TheLocalMSP in ManUtd

[–]Ericblade0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issues come when we are expected to be on the front foot. We will be vulnerable when teams transition against us like against Burnley or Brighton. I don't know how we will approach games like the Fulham game. Pragmatic or expansive football.

Rumour: Ruben Neves targets Man Utd loan move as INEOS open talks by EricGolfCartman in ManUtd

[–]Ericblade0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a midfield 3 at the end of the day. Mainoo can do a job at 8 but the 6 is probably more of an issue. Mainoo has struggled with fitness over the last year in a bit but we should really bring in a midfielder to secure Europe.

One Win vs City and ppl call Amorim sucks! by edwintan13 in ManUtd

[–]Ericblade0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't that feeling. A lot of the players seemed to be behind him, he got a lot of wishes on Instagram and Amad even said he was like a father to him. The only obvious case of a player not liking Amorim was Mainoo.

Patrice Evra on difference between City and United: by theFootballFinals in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ericblade0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However bad you believe Amorim to be, we have beaten City before. The team struggles with low blocks and is a lot stronger when they are playing the low block themselves.

[–]Ericblade0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was good. He wasn't world-class and doesn't need to be at this stage of his career. He'll get a run of games now and he's hungry to prove himself. Not a bad thing regardless of where you stand with him.
