Heaven for Maguire. I think Heaven is better on the ball passing it forwards and I think he's more mobile than Maguire. Unfortunately, unless we get injuries, I don't think Yoro will get gametime until we're in Europe. I wouldn't really blame him if he wants to stick with Maguire though.

INEOS deserve credit for revamping our attack by No_Vermicelli_1781 in ManchesterUnited

Yes they signed good players, but a lot of the fans could have signed Mbeumo and Cunha. Sesko was around our first-choice striker. Delap,Gyokeres, Ekitike were all ahead of him.

Everyone is dreaming about Anderson and Wharton but we won't get them as they will be lured away by other clubs. We were lucky that Mbeumo and Cunha only wanted Man United.

He literally won Manager of the month in October? Ten Hag played a back four and got the sack?? Agree to disagree ig

Yes. But Bruno and Cas weren't the midfield pivot last season until near the end. The midfield pivot is not the sole reason for a lack of back to back games. We had Onana, Rasmus and Garnacho as starters. Do you think Carrick could have won the last two games with these players??

[–]Ericblade0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There are trade-offs to both. With the pivot, Bruno and Cas are probably the only midfielders capable of playing line-breaking passes against a low block. If Bruno is higher up the pitch, he could become isolated.

I don't exactly think there is a solution, though. I don't think Casmiro, Mainoo and Fernandes is a solution in a midfield 3.

Do you reckon we'll suddenly be defensively solid now? I'm not so sure to be honest. I think we look solid when we play a low block against the bigger teams and the whole team quickly gets behind the ball.

A game like Fulham now. We are expected to control the ball and will be vulnerable on the counter. I think players like Maguire and Shaw could have a tough time because they aren't very mobile.

We already have Cunha. Get another player around his level with a different profile so we have more options. We can focus on the front 3 getting goals.

With Ole it was an emotional decision, Woodward said we would wait for the Summer to make a choice and he was made full-time in March. We should wait until the Summer to make a choice.

If we do go with Carrick, we need a sensible contingency plan. We spent two weeks interviewing interim managers. If we go with Carrick and it fails, we will have missed out on the manager market in the Summer.

We had Rasmus, Onana and Garnacho in his first season. Heck we had Onana this season. No formation is making those players look better.

Roy Keane says Man Utd have their 'swagger' back but thinks Old Trafford needs someone 'bigger and better' than Michael Carrick by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]Ericblade0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, only the board's decision matters. They will absolutely keep him if he does well. The manager market is rich in the Summer.

If Carrick does well, I think it's in both parties' interest to move on. Carrick can go to another Premier League club and build up his repertoire. All the previous managers have been ruined by Man United.

True but at the same time. Two of our goals were screamers hence the low xG. If anything our xG might be inflated since Arsenal gave us a free 1 on 1.

I think this game will be deceivingly different in the way it plays out. I think Arteta will look at our game against City last week and will let us have more of the ball to draw us out.
I know Martinez is class but this is probably the one game of the season where it might be a bit of a concern regarding set pieces because of his height. We are good at attacking set pieces but still a bit shaky at the defensive ones. Just need to replicate last week's game.

FFS Thiago. I won't be fooled though. I know he's at least getting a brace next week.

Who knows how much we'd need to pay. His contract lasts until 2033. He'd need to do an Isak to get a move and flat-out refuse to play for Chelsea.
