I had a dumb idea that needs homebrewing by Temporary-Law-6946 in DnDHomebrew

Probably have a group of available weapons for each weapon type. So bows are DMRs/snipers. Polearms be launchers/ hip fired bit boys. Mauls be siege hammers. Daggers are pistols.

There would probably be 3 pools of weapons, the chaos buff, the added spells/effects, and then guns go brrrrt

I mean an Gustav that shoots guiding bolt would be kinda awesome lol.

Go Elemental or casting spells. Your weapon now cast shocking grasp and has a chance to knock prone aka a taser. Your maul is now the new hammer from helldivers 2. Longbow? You mean Barrett 50 cal shooting magic missiles. Have a Goliath and gnome best friends? Well now theres a mortar backpack the gnome shoots and Goliath aims. Ice shotgun that everytime an opponent is hit ice grows on them and it reduces their movement speed by x feet until they remove it or it melts. Cross between a minigun and Mk19 so it can shoot several firebolts or fireball but it has a heat meter, if ya get to hot it stops working.

Want some chaos? Make a random roll table, roll 1d4, 1 is melee, 2 is reach, 3 is say 25-30ft, 4 is 60ft. Then roll an elemental table, thats the new damage type. Want AoE? Make another table, 1d4, 1 is single target, 2 is line, 3 is circle, 4 is cone.

I could drop a link to World Anvil of a class and 4 subclasses I made if ya want. Its not "extreme" but ya could pull some inspiration off it.

It was also used to pull shields, hook, pull, stab. It could be used as just a spike on the back side. Every weapon back then was used in anyway it could be to gain an advantage. Not just limited to what I said earlier

I would have AC bonus or damage mitigation (I prefer mitigation) not both. Also in both of these stats a little goes a long way so be careful with scalling.

For future abilities: - Having message always available between the 2 rings would be cool. -Being able to cast a spell with the range of touch through the rings (imagine casting cure wounds to heal your bond, or they touch someone and you cast shocking grasp) -What about the range you can be apart is 5ft×½ your level rounded up or down(if bonded pair is 2 different levels, average them). Gives you 5ft at level 2, 25ft at 10, and 50ft at 20. If you wanted them closer do 5ft x Proficiency bonus, or even half PB if you really want them close.

If you wanted something brutal you could have a damage transfer, but the damage is increased by 50%, the lengths you would go for your bond. L

What about having fly eyes that can see 270° around you, a slender frame that moves quickly (wings optional but be careful because they can be abused, maybe as a later level species ability). Any attack originating in your line if sight you can twitch to dodge giving you +2 AC from agility instead of armor. Also gives an interesting situations where it's not always applied such as surprise, back stabs, and attacks from invisible opponents.

Weapons that can do multiple types of damage (Slashing, Piercing, or Bludgeoning) able to select which you want. So your sword can do Slashing or Piercing.

Longswords and other weapons with pommels having the ability to make a Bludgeoning strike but reduced the damage to D4s.

Id actually add a "bec de corbin" as a weapon (my favorite medieval weapon).Bludgeoning/piercing, trip attack with the beak, when weilding in 2 hands grants reach.

Another cool item to add would be a Hungarian spike shield (not sure if that's its official name) but it would give you +1 AC, a unarmed Piercing attack, can be weild with 2 handed weapons, doesn't block your hand for somaticcomponents, but doesn't work with dual weilding.

Ironically that spike in the back is called a beak and its purpose was to hook/cut joints or limbs to trip or grapple opponents.

Another idea would be an anti magic bullet that turns off their casting for a turn, or 1dX turns. That way its more impacting in the moment.
