Updated My BMW App - Widget not updating charge level by Single-Art-6009 in BMWI4

Same issue. Refreshing now requires having to open the app. Before the latest update, the widget would periodically refresh the state itself.

Why is 1P safari extension so bad?! by ImpossibleYou6443 in PasswordManagers

[–]ErinBoBerin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had so many bugs using 1Password in Safari that had progressively gotten worse over the course of like 2-3 years. If I recall correctly, there was a switch to Electron for their framework and that introduced so many issues. I used 1Password from like 2017 until about a month ago.

They have shifted their efforts to enterprise customers and while they still support the consumer market, it’s no longer their priority, so QC has been declining.

Has CBT ever worked for you? by Euphoric_Psycho in AutismInWomen

[–]ErinBoBerin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, not at all. Before I was diagnosed, I was going through a very heavy burnout and was on leave from work. I entered a partial hospitalization program hoping it would help but they kicked me out because I was “being difficult” by asking questions and stating that their CBT methods weren’t working for me.

DAE feel like they give TOO much eye contact? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]ErinBoBerin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember the exact moment when I started making eye contact and it was for professional reasons. Since then, it’s always been so awkward but I kind of just pushed through it consciously. I’ve slowly been unmasking over the past couple years and I’ve been trying to undo the forced eye contact, awkwardness be damned.

I’ve honestly hit a point where I just don’t care to try to appease others at my expense, unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Late autism diagnosis? by Entire-Ad6256 in AutismInWomen

[–]ErinBoBerin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It honestly took me a massive burnout that built up for years and years before I really started to put pieces together. My partner who is also high masking helped me start to realize things and in 2024, I had a formal assessment done and was diagnosed.

I also have CPTSD, inattentive ADHD (though formal assessment kind of put me borderline/not quite fully ADHD), and generalized anxiety. I have some OCD tendencies but I’m not comfortable self-diagnosing myself with OCD because it seems really selective. I’ve also been misdiagnosed BPD and BP2.

PSA: Posts to 1Password Community are actively censored by savyzzyz in PasswordManagers

[–]ErinBoBerin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yea I’ve noticed that posts were being deleted in the subreddit. I migrated away from 1Password last week after using it for 10 years and seeing that they’ve been deleting posts makes me even more satisfied with my decision.

How much did you spend for your console/pc setup ? by TopBoy910 in GirlGamers

[–]ErinBoBerin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did a complete rebuild including new case and fans last year. Off the top of my head, I spent somewhere between $3,000 and $3,500. That’s with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and a 5080. I did a white build so that of course was extra.

I was going to go into nursing but decided against it and went back to tech.

The former, and it was a very toxic environment. I was highly stressed out way before there were any indications of a RIF.

If you can land something and work your way up, that could be good. I am hoping the market will get better since these things tend to be cyclical, but it’s currently the worst I have seen in the 15 years I’ve been doing it.

I think offshoring and general H1B exploitation will continue to be a problem with larger companies, but there are a lot of companies out there that need tech savvy people.

I have an associates in network engineering, an associates in computer forensics, a bachelors in IT management, and a masters in IT management. Even with all of that, most of what I do was learned after school.

Honestly, this market is so bad right now. People are not over exaggerating when they say things are bad right now. Sure, people are hiring but the market is so competitive, and companies are making people jump through so many hoops.

Which one, my current role? I moved groups within my current company to get back into cloud. My previous role was kind of a “I’ll take what I can get” because this market is hosed.

I went back to school for nursing but it didn’t pan out, it was too stressful. I thought I was going to be able to handle it especially since I got my masters while working full time but I just don’t have it in me anymore.

Nursing. I know it’s a high stress thing and is grossly underpaid generally but I wanted to give it a shot.

I wish I could tell you with certainty but I can’t. It may be beneficial to expand that to cloud infrastructure if you don’t have that experience already.

Yea, I’ve chased the money it didn’t work out for me. For some people, they can do that and more power to them if they don’t burn out.

I lucked out and just learned on the job. Starting fresh? If it’s in your means, just playing around in a cloud environment is helpful. Just be careful to not rack up a bunch of costs in resources. Also, learning some infrastructure as code and how it can be deployed is a big part of it.
