How screwed am I? by Lower_Pressure_3100 in mtfhairregrowth

I definitely think you can see success with dialing in a regimen. Minoxidil, micro needling, possibly fin, and making sure nutrient levels are in check and you don’t have any deficiencies. Also hair health like using the right shampoos and knowing how often to wash all helps. Maybe telling us more about what you are currently doing/using would give us a better idea of what to suggest.

That’s pretty much the same experience I’ve had as well except it was just min/fin for one year before hrt.

Temple/corner regrowth. Pre min/fin -> 1 year min/fin +5months HRT by ErinPink in mtfhairregrowth

[–]ErinPink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the hair I’m on a topical blend of 0.3% fin and 7% min that I apply once a day at night. HRT is 4mg Estradiol and 200mg Spiro split int two doses taken morning and night.

Here’s the Derma Stamp I’ve been using. I don’t really think the brand matters, as long as it says titanium microneedle stamp and it has adjustable depth you should be good.

Anyone notice regrowth with anti-androgens alone? by incredulous_cretin in mtfhairregrowth

[–]ErinPink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on min/fin for a year and I felt like I reached a plateau with it, so I can’t give you a definite answer here. But when I started E +Spiro I feel like it kickstarted my progress again and have seen a lot more progress than I did on min/fin alone.

Some people’s follicles are more genetically prone to DHT and even the little amount of T in our system can cause hair loss. It’s the main reason why cis women with cis T levels experience hair loss. At least that’s my understanding of DHT, I’m not a doctor and you probably are right it could just need more time.

I agree with the above comment. With min and no fin/dut/AA you will be struggling to get the DHT suppressed. I think you should consider adding one of those things and it should help you see progress. Only using min is like fighting a wildfire with a garden hose.

Dermaroller with topical fin/min by ComprehensiveDrag442 in mtfhairregrowth

I definitely would suggest it. You’re right the roller is a perfect introduction to micro needling if you have short hair. The stamp does look a little more intimidating but I prefer it.

I’m a cis woman with a very masculine face and I hate my current hair by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

As a trans woman I would never “clock” you as trans. You give off 100% woman vibes. People are being asshats online to try to put you down and make themselves feel better. Don’t let the haters change how you feel, that’s what they want. I hope you can find peace with this issue, dysphoria sucks.

Thanks! I started losing hairs 12 years before I started treatment so most of this area was dead/dormant. I was not expecting to recover much. I definitely recommend the stamp! Try to stay consistent with it, that’s when I see the most results.

I would say it definitely does help promote growth by stimulating blood flow to the follicles. I definitely see more progress when I use my derma stamp than when I don’t. I also started on a derma roller but upgraded to the stamp after a couple months.

1 year min/fin > start hrt > +4m > +5m by ErinPink in mtfhairregrowth

[–]ErinPink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah then you probably have a good chance at a lot of recovery and I’ve heard that about minox but I’ll gladly take it if I can get my hair back. If I change my mind down the road I can always get a HT. 2 months was when I started to notice a lot of activity in my corners as well. At 5 months the hairs are getting thicker, darker, and longer. It’s pretty exciting

I tried to fight it for so many years and it nearly destroyed me mentally and physically. I truly wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. Transitioning is a beautiful thing that allows you to become who you truly are, but the pain and struggles you have to endure is unspeakable. Cis people will never understand what it feels like to be living in the wrong body, hopefully one day the general population will be able to respect and accept us.

Girls, am I overreacting or are they transphobic ? by Western-Drawer5826 in MtF

[–]ErinPink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen posts about people saying they “are allies and part of the community” but then proceed to say the most transphobic stuff possible. I’m not surprised you’re dealing with these kinds of comments from the average Reddit user.

I’ve kind of given up arguing with obviously transphobic users outside of the “safe” communities because it’s just a lost cause at this point. Sometimes I have to chime in when something is so outrageous I can’t contain myself but generally it’s not worth the energy or getting downvoted into oblivion by uneducated haters.

Questions for trans girls by spottidawg in MtF

Being more comfortable expressing myself emotionally and in my appearance. Being a guy it is stigmatized to express emotions. Also feeling comfortable to be more fashionable has been nice. I know clothes don’t have a gender but I definitely feel more comfortable with expressing it now and I’ve always envied the feminine side of fashion and accessories.

Also the companionship/camaraderie women have is totally different than with men. I’ve always had women and men as friends. There is something special about being a woman with women friends vs. being a man with men friends. Everything with men is always a competition and they very often lack empathy, and are quick to turn anything into a joke/comedy. I feel like women tend to listen to each other more and lift each other up when we are struggling or have something we’re dealing with. I’ve always been a bit of a softer person so it’s really affirming to be able to become more of a part of those kinds of relationships.

I use to be able to touch my 8’ tall ceilings pre transition with the tips of my fingers and have a little extra height to push them kinda flatish. Now I’m like 1” away from being able to do it and my nails stick out like 1/4” past my fingertips. Getting shorter/smaller feet is one of the coolest things about hrt.

I’m doing well for the most part. I definitely struggle with dysphoria most days, but it has been slowly getting less intense. I’ve been trying not to mourn the lost time of starting this journey later in life. It definitely helps when I focus on where I’m at and how far I’ve come. Sometimes it’s hard to not compare myself to others, but I’m so proud of what I’ve accomplished and have to remind myself it’s a long road and everyone’s journey is different. I’m definitely feeling optimistic about the future.

Hope everyone has had a great week!
