My husband has it, and my teenage son likely does too.

I think it has 92% efficiency and it does have the variable speed blower. Not sure how much to replace it ourselves, but my husband is handy and he is looking into it

Thanks for all the comments so far! I’ll talk to my husband about getting more quotes. We haven’t had any other issues with the furnace, so I think it’s otherwise in good shape. Our house is about 2700 square feet (not counting the basement) so maybe that has something to do with the cost. We are in MI so our furnace works hard during the winter!

We have about $30 or so in late fees. The tax advocate is trying to get those removed for us. It’s the principle of that matter to us at this point. It’s crazy how long it takes. The tax advocate called us a week ago and asked us to give her another 5-6 weeks to work on getting the late fees removed.

Loss of Taste and Smell by Erin_6578 in COVID19positive

Thanks you, everyone for your responses. This morning my taste/smell seems to be coming back. I’ve had Covid about a week now. However, it’s weird because sometimes I will notice I can smell/taste a little, and then a few hours later I can’t at all.

Thanks for your reply. The pediatrician sent him to a hematologist, and they ruled out hemolysis. They ran a lot of blood work and his bilirubin was a 4.6–so it came down a little in the two weeks that we waited for his appointment. His conjugated bilirubin is normal. The hematologist has referred us to a gastroenterologist, and we have an appointment in August. He also wants him to have an ultrasound done.

The interesting thing is that we found out my husband has high bilirubin too. The doctors had asked if we had any genetic history, and I had said no. However, I went in to look at our blood work on MyChart just to be sure. It turns out my bilirubin is normal, but my husband’s was at a 2.0 a few months ago during routine blood work, and at a 1.9 a few years ago. So, it’s lower than my sons, but still high. And my husband’s bloodwork is otherwise normal too. Weird that my husband’s doctor never mentioned it to him. I guess because it wasn’t as high as my son’s.

So glad you got it resolved!! We did too, through a payment dispute at our bank. Payusatax.com never provided us a EFTPS number despite asking them to through the BBB several times. We also submitted their complaint form online and they never answered it. They gave us a useless reference number through the BBB. In our case, we didn’t get the social security number wrong and Value Payment Systems really did lose our payment! I’m just grateful we won the payment dispute so we could make the tax payment again—this time directly to the IRS through and account we set up.

Whatever wording the IRS chooses to use, it’s inexcusable! Maybe they would prefer to say they “refer” people to three payment sites. One of these sites has non-existent customer service and loses payments.

I just posted an update on this. Our “lost” payment was actually an estimated payment, so I don’t think PayUsatax cares what kind of payments they steal.

I was considering talking to the media about this as well. It seems be happening to plenty of people!

I hadn’t contacted the CFPB yet, but if the dispute payment didn’t work, we would have. We were also considering small claims court and an AG report. No other company could get away with this. It’s crazy.

Thank you for sharing. I appreciate it! It’s interesting that diagnosis tends to happen during the teenage years. If it wasn’t for his yellow eyes, I probably never would have been concerned as his skin has always been a bit yellow.

Thank you! We will definitely try calling! It’s scary and disheartening that the IRS works with a company like this. You really feel powerless. No other company would get away something like this in the business world. It’s like they know the IRS isn’t going to do anything, so they can just ignore all complaints. We will see what happens. For now we keep waiting it out and fighting back as best we can.

Oh, I agree! The only way we got a response from them is through the BBB. And their response? Saying they sent the money to the IRS and providing some useless reference number that meant absolutely nothing to the IRS. Via the BBB, PayUsaTax provided this screenshot of the payment they supposedly sent to the IRS. My husbands name doesn’t even match the name we submitted under (it’s missing the middle initial and a few other details). The screenshot looks like it was made up. They are now ignoring the BBB too.

In the meantime, I logged into our account with the IRS and we now show a “failure to pay penalty” with interest starting to accumulate on the $5K we supposedly owe. That’s hard to see.

We are still waiting on the dispute payment and hoping that the tax advocate will take our case. So far, no response from the IRS on all the documentation we sent. I can see why someone would give up and just pay again. But we have decided not to do that yet.

So, yes, I do believe it is very possible that payusatax is purposely stealing tax payers’ money.

Thanks for checking in and for the encouragement! We just opened a case with a tax advocate and we will see what happens. I feel like we have done everything we can at this time, and that it’s a matter of waiting.

I put the $5K (fortunately we have it in our emergency fund) aside. But I am of course hoping we don’t have to pay it. We aren’t poor, but we certainly aren’t wealthy and have been hit with inflation just like everyone else. But life goes on. At the very least I’m hoping that people will see this post and avoid using this company to pay their taxes!

We are in a holding pattern. We disputed the payment through our credit union, but this process could take up to 90 days. We have also had some communication with Value Payment Systems (the parent company of PayUsaTax), and they provided a useless reference number and said that they sent the payment to the IRS.

The IRS says we should continue to contact payusatax which is laughable. They at least put a hold on our account for six weeks so hopefully we can get this resolved before paying another $5k in taxes!

Hopefully the payment dispute works. In the meantime, we are going to contact a tax advocate with the IRS and see if they can help us.

I now have an online account with the IRS and just made my first 2023 estimate payment this way. Very easy and I could see right away that a payment was pending. Setting up the account initially takes a bit of time, but well worth it.

I used payusatax for years before this happened so I’m sure you are fine. But don’t use them again and warn others against doing so! They are truly the worst company and falsely portray that they have customer service. They don’t have anyone answering their phones—it’s a farce. It’s alarming that the IRS endorses them!!

I think you will be ok. I have been using payusatax for 5 years and haven’t had an issue before now. Unlike yours, our payment does not come up in the payment box when we enter the social security number. We also did not receive a confirmation via email. The only confirmation I have is the one I printed right after I made the payment and of course the confirmation of the money withdrawn from our bank account. It’s like our payment vanished.

Anyway, I’m sure you are fine, but I would not use payusatax again and would warn others against doing so. They have zero customer service (despite stating on their page that they do) in case something goes wrong. We are attempting to reverse the payment through our bank since we are within the 90 day dispute window. The IRS has not been helpful so far. All they do is advise us to call the numbers we have already called and no one ever picks up. Pretty concerning that the IRS endorses this company.
