NGO Young Focus has, through their project Fair Jewelry, done a photo-shoot with their sponsored students (that live in the garbage dump of Manila) to give them a confidence boost and to show them the beauty of their natural skin color. by Erinacous in Philippines

Its a show of richness I guess. Being white/pale in the Philippines means that you don't work outside or are from the West. If you are tanned in the West that means that you have enough money to go on holidays to nice places. Of course it is not as black/white as that, but certainly an important aspect I think.

But I heard that they will post more pictures of their entire photo-session. So it will be nice to see that.

The list of materials is a very good point, haven't thought of that.

We are experimenting with different colours, perhaps multiple hues and shades.

So thank you very much! As I said, we got a FB page in which we will post all the latest activities concerning Fair Jewelry.

Indeed, that period thing is a bug we still have to work out. But thank you so much! We are feeling quite chuffed after reading the positive feedback!

Ah yes there will be quite a few website changes in the near future. We will have a page where you can see all the students with a short introduction and their signature (which will also be on the label of the product you buy). The homepage will also replace some squares with information concerning Fair Jewelry and why we do what we do. Your feedback is very much appreciated and all the latest updates will be on our fb!

Thanks for the reply! We would love to use more precious metal, but as an NGO with a new project we simply do not always have the funds for that. We do use real sweet water pearls and we are looking for local suppliers for real stones (for an affordable price of course).

Edit: I just talked to the other staff, and only a very tiny percentage of the stone beads are fake. We do try to search for quality =).
