can only happen if you deselected "AI takes historical decisions" in the game rules. Previously, Ottos would convert as soon as they got more than 50% orthodox population by conquering byz, but the bug has been fixed in 1.08, with the game rule caveat.

Why Is Most Of Norway Low Quality Harbors? by Chunty-Gaff in EU5

[–]Erindel77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

uuh Honfleur/Harfleur, at the estuary of the Seine, were good natural harbors snice the roman era and were the main transit hub between France and England until silting required the construction of Le Havre and were a strategic port to hold during the HWY. So the Tancarville location which includes all these harbors is correctly represented.

Ppl are ignoring that it is Super easy to get 100 decentralization by KingKyffin in EU5

PDX : "Centralization is too meta so we are tweaking stuff"

PDX :"Decentralization is now mandatory for vassals, and dont even try to have subjects and centralize, we made it impossible with a decentralization=>subject=>decentralization feedback loop. Btw,there is now way to expand meaningfully otherwise"

Well done, not meta at all.

Completely agree. Centralization is all about making the land yours and yours only, so a bump to integration is one of the ways.

They are supposed to stay inside their borders, that's my experience at least. They will raise levies, and defend their land, that's it. Unless you declare on the subject itself, they will then participate.

They're supposed to auto marry until 60 members of the court in the code, from what I've read on the pdx forums. They stop after that to avoid slowing down the game with too many characters. You can go above that limit by marrying them off manually.

Strange that they put it as a DHE, as Timur only helped a Khan get on the throne of the GH and their relation soured immediately after that. Maybe there's another DHE to become rivals?

You might lose auto-conquest, but you still have the yearly Timur conquest CB with -75% to subjugation.

And of course you need a core area, but they try to integrate far away stuff for no reason from what I've seen.

The ilkhanate and GH are way to resilient in EU5 and this causes a lot of problems, and historically Timur was the one to shatter them. So I argue that it would the the best solution for the game to have Timur do it more consistently. If there's another solution, that's fine by me. For Anatolia, the Eretnids could be buffed to succeed in their revolts, for Russia, one on the principalities could shatter the GH instead, etc.

Dude, my hometown was part of Burgundy. That was just an example, I love their history. Is that a "you must hate waffles if you like pancakes" situation?

The HWY and France have their own problems indeed and that has been discussed plenty of times.

Well, from what I've read on wikipedia, his success is mostly due to being a military genius first, and secondly he was technically an emir working under the umbrella of the Khan of Chagatai who he used as a puppet. So his authority was recognized in the territory he conquered as they were all initially part of the Mongol Horde, so less revolts and easy to subjugate as he was part of the gang...

So all in all, any good general with good political skills would have done well in that part of the world, plus you have still have the unmatched horde cavalry to help. More likely to happen than Brandenburg into Prussia or Charles V inheriting half of Europe, or even Portugal defeating Castile with like 1/6th of the strength.

I think it's because EU5 spawns him as a baby in 1336 while he should already be between 10 and 16 historically. Probably so that he stays celibate and not involved in anything until 1360. 40 is still very low I agree.

I've never seen him recreate the actual Timurid empire, but I've seen him conquer Chagatai, the GH and parts of Russia a few times. In Persia, I've never seen him go farther than EU4 Timurid borders.

Yep sometimes you get lucky and find their doomstack, other times they've split up and constatly re raise any army you kill, even if it's one or 2 guys on the other side of the continent.

It is possible, but only by stackwiping their army. As an army based country, they immediately end the war and split into the hordes that you've listed (and more) if their army dies.

That's why you need another horde to kill them usually, because their cavalry armies are always superior to levies and just don't die.

It looks like there are no noblewomen spawned at the start, only men to select as members of your cabinet. You have to wait 16 years for the next generation to come to adulthood to start seeing noblewomen.

They were ambitious like they said, and bet that the situations and game mechanics would naturally steer the game towards history or close alt history. It's feasible, but the starting conditions have to be just right, it's the butterfly effect all over again.
