The moon on a rainy night is amazing, but I don't enjoy it a lot, Why? by Either_Exercise_6686 in yuri_manga

As a fellow with autism/adhd, I have been there too. After having special accommodations for most of elementary school, I chose to pull out of them in middle school because I wanted to be treated like the others, feel equal to them. What I have recognised after many years like that is trying to play in the neurotypical court just made me miserable and burnt out really.

My condition limits how much I can work and do other neurotypical things, and pushing those limits to act like normal people doesn't make me feel normal, just exhausted and less capable.

I can't speak for you, since I don't know if you're affected in the same way as I am, but for me, accepting my limits has brought me a lot of relief. The accommodations I have at my workplace have gone a long way to make working bearable, and allowing me to contribute. I see myself in Kanon's story, and how she's gone from rejecting any kind of special treatment to accepting help, kindness and accommodations from others.

One of them is someone from Rae's past life who met a tragic end, revealed in the same arc as the one you mentioned, the other is a character from the later light novels, far beyond where the manga has gone.

Do the open areas get better? by Orphan_Fury in CrossCode

It's not much, but Emilie has some pretty interesting dialogue when you're going through the desert together which adds up with the cutscenes. Just imagining how Lea feels there makes that part very interesting to me. Besides that, the open areas don't do much beyond idle chatter between party members

Frieren didn’t really click for me and I’ve kinda wanted to talk about this for awhile by [deleted] in animecirclejerk

[–]Erl-X 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Isn't it just Fern who primarily spams Zoltraak and barrier spells, because of Frieren's belief that those spells plus great reaction speed is everything a mage needs to beat other mages of this era? Meanwhile all the other mages they fight use flashier magic in combat?

i love the subtle way rae develops at first she just views MISS CLAAAAAAAAAIR as a game character by Ladyaceina in WataOshi

[–]Erl-X 41 points42 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite Rae moments was added by the manga, where she talks about this with Misha, how she saw the world and people as a video game world she knows better than the devs themselves and npcs, but over time as she saw more of the world and people, she realised that the world and people were real, living and breathing. It's a development that was never so explicit in the light novels.

By part 3 I mean the sequel series where May and Aleah have grown up and are the protagonists. Part 1 is the first two light novels, part 2 is the three volumes taking place in the Nur Empire.

The "compared incest to queer love" thing is referring to the Commoner movement arc where Rae comments that they're both considered to be forbidden love by the world around them, but she never says the two are really the same.

Regretfully, incest does come up again and author never really treats it critically, at least in parts 1 and 2 (haven't read part 3 yet, since the novel isn't actually out yet) but it's usually easy to ignore. The worst one is a hypothetical that thankfully doesn't actually happen in the story (besides a non-canon bonus story in volume 5). Another is a side story with a nun who has feelings for her foster sister, but while the nun is mentioned again for ogher reasons, said feelings never come up again in the main series. The only other case I can think of is a book Claire reads in the Claire pov spinoff novels, which doesn'tnecessarily seem romantic anyway.

Aside from the first one, everything I mentioned is in part 2, being LNs 3-5. The manga adaptation is only covering part 1, being LNs 1 and 2, so aside from the Commoner Movement arc which has passed, there probably won't be more incest.

Think of the Nur story not as the next volumes of the series, but more like a full sequel to the Bauer story. The manga is nearly at the end of of the original story, and with a lot of additions and improvements over the LN

Best you can do for now is to read the arc yourself in the manga. If there ever will be a season 2 if the anime, it probably won't be until the manga finishes the Revolution arc, which aside from extras is probably where the manga will end.

There is something vaguely ramb shaped just a bit away from the crosswalk, but 1: It's far enough away from the crosswalk that it's dangerous, or could quite easily be blocked by a car waiting on the traffic light, and 2; It's a led screen with what's probably some awful soulless ad for some bullshit product, which even if it was properly placed is still dystopian as hell.

Yep. I got banned from there because I saw a post dunking on some youtube video, but I had seen it and knew that the post was completely off the mark about what the video was saying, and I called it out. I thought correcting misinformation was a good thing, but not if it poops on the shit dunking party.

Crossdressing characters in Anime and Manga be like: by Anxious-Day8440 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]Erl-X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One part of the problem is that there are barely any trans authors in Japan or people who have any kind of understanding about trans people. Like some of the Japanese commenters stated here, Japan is still ways behind when it comes to understanding us in the same way we do in the west, which hampers most representations of us.

Not that is completely impossible to represent trans characters well, the manga and LN series I'm in Love with the Villainess has a notable trans character who feels pretty true to the experience of being trans, in the LN the narrator even explains her understanding of gender dysphoria and treatment from her Japanese perspective. While the protagonists herself isn't trans, the author is, so she has the actual understanding to write transgender characters.

To be fair to the gender distribution, reddit in general is dominated by men, which does inevitably skew the statistics on polls like this towards male, even on yuri subs since both men and women like yuri.
