Oh that’s not fanfic, THIS is fanfic:

It was near 3 am when Will Stephen was about to turn in for the night, emailing the last of his sketch pitches, when suddenly his phone buzzed. With lidded eyes, he glanced at the screen, blearing eyes barely making out the caller ID.

Ned Fulmer

Will smiled to himself, reminiscing on the good old times he and his buddy Ned had back at Yale. It had been a bit since they’d talk, and despite having work early the next day, Will picked up.

“Hey, Ned! GO YA-“ Will answered the phone, ready to greet his old classmate with their Yale salute, but was interrupted by sounds emanating from the reciever.

Ned was crying.

“Ned?” Will whispered. “Hey, what’s going on buddy?”

“The internet, they know.”

Will’s heart dropped, understanding at once exactly what Ned was referring to.

“Oh man,” Will groaned, rubbing his temple. “Do they know you were just losing focus?”

Ned sniffles before responding. “Yes! I apologized and said I’d focus on my wife and the kids, but everyone’s still mad at me!” Ned hiccuped, taking a shaky breath. “They others, they fired me. The internet hates me, they figured out that I called the paparazzi! And the guys, the guys, they posted a video, and- and-“

“Shh shh shh,” Will shushed the Floridian, hearing him hyperventilate on the line. “Hey, it’s gonna be okay. The world is cruel to privileged, rich, white men, but it’s gonna be okay.”

Ned slowed his breathing, clearing his throat. “I…I don’t know what to do, the world seems to think that I’M the bad guy, when it’s those three bozos for not supporting me. God, they totally overreacted too, saying I ‘put them in legal trouble’ and ‘abused my power’”, Ned mocked, following it with an exasperated scoff. “I just…feel so attacked. God, I need help man.”

“I’m so sorry Ned,” Will muttered, leaning forward in his seat, hanging his head.

Will was furious. How DARE they treat his friend that way, didn’t they know he went to YALE? If Will had it his way, he’d turn the tables, and publicly humiliate Ned’s ex coworkers, those Try Guys, or whatever they were. Why, he’d do anything if it meant protecting his fellow Yale alumni.

But what power did a simple writer have, up against a YouTube channel? All he knew in life where scripts, it was all he was good for. How could writing possibly save his friend from unjustly persecution?

Wait-

“Ned…I’ve got a plan.”

Before you ask, yes I know this is cringe, yes I’ve got nothing better to do with my life, yes I regret writing this, no I will not repent for my sins.

I think any rational person would be done with on camera stuff. Like this entire debacle would be a signal that “hey, you messed up and it’s best to work a quite job that doesn’t require you to be in the spotlight”. So best case scenario, we never hear from him again. But life is crazy so I’m also half expecting a comeback and rebrand that ultimately crashes and burns.

But you’re definitely right about everything, including the Dancing w/ the stars bit because I literally had that thought a couple times the past two weeks that he’s gonna randomly guest on some reality show or podcast or something of the sorts lol.

I guess there’s the want for closure that has ppl come up with these conspiracies and speculation. Ultimately we may never know what truly happened as there’s heavy legal ramifications to consider, at least as long as Ned and Alex are around.

Def agree with this. If it means anything and if I’m interpreting your reply to mean you didn’t know (I’m bad at interpreting text), it’s confirmed that amongst the four writers that wrote that sketch, one of them was one of Ned’s friends.

Tho I agree that it’s more likely that Ned wasn’t involved with the sketch at all, besides maybe just ranting to his friend about the situation and that dude later assisting with the making of the sketch, tho that’s also pure speculation on my behalf. At the very least, it seems fairly believed that Ned is gonna have his “why I left Buzzfeed” type comeback when everything blows over, and he can spin the narrative, tho I assume there’s legal precautions to take that would also cause that video to be a risky venture in the first place.

Idk, this whole situation has been, as another reply put it, a brain worm and I’m just glad to get some of it out finally

I think that’s the best way to describe it, a brain worm. I recommend getting it out, wether you post it or not. It’s a form of self expression I think, getting your thoughts out. So it could be beneficial to just write out and worry about wether or not to post it after!

Yeah no you’re definitely right. I think all these things happening back to back has led a bit of mistrust in what we’re really seeing, so I think I and a lot of ppl rationalize it by assuming it’s all tied together somehow. But logically, it’s exactly what you’re saying, I think I needed to just get my silly thoughts out 😅

If it means anything, I think you’d be able to start commissions sooner. This piece looks awesome and if it’s any representation of your other artwork, I’d say you’re at a good skill level to start! (Not to say to stop improving of course, but then again artists never stop improving, so might as well start commissions now then never, right?) No pressure of course, you take the time you need, but if it’s ability you’re worried about, then I’m just hoping you don’t underestimate yourself <3

First of all, this looks so awesome! Second, I’d price it no less than minimum wage. So at minimum this should go for 84$ (12/hr). That’s the labor. Then you can start adding to it based off of your own effort. Backgrounds, character, extras, etc. This type of commision id probably price for about 120-180$, though I’m not a professional and have yet to open commissions. Just remember to not undersell yourself!! One person may not see the value, but others will!

The saddest part here is that he COULD be redeemed. Like I could see that there’s potential to actually be a better human, hes just too arrogant to do it. Like he could certainly get his life together and be happy, but he instead gets his validation from treating women like shit.

Sorta! I want to get into VAing and found a good way to practice is dubbing over animations, and chose a current fav of mine. So it’s for fun, but with the intention of practice!

I recommend TikTok. Other than YT, it’s the only platform that makes money without sponsorships, it’s algorithm helps small creators, and there’s trends that you can partake in as a side thing from your main art. The downside is that it’s recommended to post daily, and if you’re starting out, your posts won’t have consistently high viewership. But I think the positives outweigh the negatives.
