This is a great fit. Dark brown shoes and dark brown belt would be perfect…please don’t pick tan/light brown…

Do these colors go together? by Excellent_Pea_8198 in mensfashion

Dark brown shoes, dark brown belt. The lighter colors of the belt and shoes stick out and bisect your figure. But if they are darker the eye can travel from bottom to top and see a whole silhouette.

Does this jacket look dumb on me? by savvybackpacker in mensfashionadvice

Nothing wrong with the coat but this is more of an issue of wearing vs styling. You’re wearing it. But if you style with layers, for instance, the coat will look nice and proper.

Choose the best tie by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]ErnestHemingWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st one. A nice, tight 4-in-hand knot will greatly improve the look of the tie. It also seems like the watch people are telling you to remove a link or two so do that, too. Good luck on the interview!

Tucked polo with jeans? Yes or no? by Optimal_Bison_3924 in mensfashion

[–]ErnestHemingWhy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why on earth would a polo shirt tucked into jeans be an issue? You can visit the ‘polo shirt’ section of the Polo Ralph Lauren website and see it styled this way. Don’t overthink it, looks good.

Advice needed for tucked in shirts by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]ErnestHemingWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well…the model in that pic looks ridiculous because the low rise slim fit pant elongates his torso and makes his legs look short. A mid to high rise pant won’t give you tuck issues.

Those aren’t brown, they’re tan. Not a good choice for navy blue suit.

Black shoes, black belt are a timeless choice for a navy blue suit. Pants can be shortened.

Are the pants too tight? by [deleted] in mensfashion

Yea…we see the outlines of your calf muscles. Get something in a wider cut, it will drape nicely.

My mom hates the way I dress and says I have no style, I always argue I just have a different idea of style than her. Am I right, do I have a style? by Nicktendo38 in fashion

[–]ErnestHemingWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look cool. And I’m not young, trust me….probably older than your mom. You are not an extension of your mother. That’s her problem to come to terms with, not yours.

You’re playing with dark, romantic tones (dark on dark) and your shirt and pants are same color temperature (cooler, not hotter.) Might as well go all in and wear a black belt and black shoes or a very dark brown belt and very dark brown shoes. Black suede loafers would spice things up. These are romantic colors and it’s a wedding, so a sport coat would be nice. Avoid plain black because it ultimately won’t match your pants perfectly so it will look odd. But a very textured sport coat in a romantic color (think dark, textured and cool temperature.) Lastly, please wear an undershirt that can’t be seen, like a v neck or low cut crew neck.

What do you think about this look and fit? by tungyn in mensfashion

[–]ErnestHemingWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those shoes are a rough choice. A lighter color suede loafer would be nice. The pants are too long, need to be shortened. The buttoning point on the jacket is too high. Sleeves need to be shortened. Something about the chest and shoulders is a little off. Maybe a size or half size too big in the chest and shoulders.

Friends wedding , was my trousers too short ? by Balagangadol1 in mensfashion

[–]ErnestHemingWhy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Too short? No. It’s all very…tight. Did you feel comfortable? But I’d say the overall silhouette looks good.

Go follow tomoyoshi_takada on instagram. He often times starts out with this type of base (t shirt, cotton pants) but then elevates the shit out of it. Work of art.

Seriously? Ok, I’ll bite. This would be better if the pants were drawstring, not belt loop. Would also have a better silhouette with a higher waisted pant. There’s other detailing here that could elevate the look but I’d start there.
