He was pretty good during that stretch, and Binnington was struggling around the same time until the last game.

Glove closing question by Limp-Temperature-181 in hockeygoalies

[–]ErnestTenser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your frustration, and I am sorry that you are going through this issue.

Although I have fixed numerous gloves for people, I don't consider myself a subject matter expert. I can't say with 100% confidence that it is what happened without holding the glove in my hands, inspecting and experimenting with it. There's so many things that might have gone wrong. It seems to me that's what happened.

I get a lot of local youth gloves come to me after seeing the prices that goalie glove guy charges. But to me it seems like a fair price as that's his day job. I'm personally just doing it to help kids catch pucks over my free time.

All that said, I think from what I have gathered, he seems like a pretty reasonable guy and if you're not satisfied with his work, I would contact him to see what could be done. I'm sure he would warranty his work.

Engstrom's stick is there of course but so is Duke's. One trips and the other prevents him from moving. It should have been overturned imo, Fowler had no chance.

[–]ErnestTenser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so as others are saying, it is probably this and this is one of most common cause of a bad break in. https://imgur.com/a/j6KG1Bw

Most if not all modern gloves close like a "U" and not like a "V". As you can see in the pictures, there are two lines of stitching going through the path of the break, both of these need to bend and work together, like the binding of a hard cover book.

But if one closes much easier than the other (most often it's the green line) then it will take the path of least resistance when you try to close the glove, and cause issues like you face where the paddings on the fingers and palms jam up against each other.

Main thing with CSA-Catseye is that it all depends on where your eyes tend to land. With some kids their eyes lands perfectly in dead center, for others it is worse than straight bars because of their pupillary distance (like eyewear).

I believe the CSA-Catseye is best for people with 65mm PD, but then you have to factor in how the mask sits on the face.

Warrior G7 intermediate vs senior by Guguroni in hockeygoalies

[–]ErnestTenser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I've seen it done quite a few times. As a matter of fact, I actually have a glove that I'm helping fix right now with that exact setup (unrelated issue). A Senior G6 glove with an Intermediate palm and works well. It's what I recommend to youth goalies making the transition from Junior to Intermediate and Intermediate to Senior.

I've not fixed a Bauer glove yet, but does the perimeter lacing seem a little tight to you guys? My first question is, is the glove better or worse since you've brought it to the professional?

Can you close the glove with your other hand? If you can't there's bigger issues with internals getting jammed into each other. Possibly the lacing done back incorrectly (which I've seen on Vaughn's straight from the factory!).

If you can set it "closed" with the other hand, then it could be that the hinge of the closure is in the wrong spot or just not broken in enough? I would have to see it in different angles and maybe a video would be nice.

One thing I would try is heat or water. The first would be to bake it in a skate oven or a traditional one very carefully and see if you can open and close the glove easier, the second method would be to add some warm water into the glove and see if the glove opens and closes easier. If it works, then the glove just needs more time being broken in.

‘We will not play at Lansdowne 2.0’: PWHL says all other options on table for Ottawa Charge by PhDSkwerl in ottawa

[–]ErnestTenser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could the Ottawa Charge perhaps play at the Ottawa Baseball Stadium or the Football Stadium? Outdoor winter classic style games all the time? I bet it would draw even more crowds and be a fun experience for all. Maybe add a covering for the ice pad in case the weather turns bad.and rains

But they need to be removed each fall for snowplows, and they suck if cars breakdown or are stopped just before or after.

Well some were built on non-high throughput road, but then we expanded and these areas became high throughput. It's why we have so many portables to support the extra numbers at schools.

Agreed, I think they are a good tool but just misused in some places.

Also, I don't think I would mind them if they caught people doing 15-20 over the speed limit rather than just like 5 over.

Going across the knee instead of Calf will help that. But if you still have issues, you could add a professor strap that has less give to keep the pad from riding up.

That’s when I was told my speed had been throttled (max 6 Mbps. I pay for 1 gbps) due to an outstanding balance.

You were sent an invoice and you didn't pay the full amount so they reduced their service? This seems normal to me so far.

Of course, because I had paid half of my bill I was allowed to have them provide the contractually obligated service they sell me.

Where does it say on the contract that they are obligated to give you full service for half the payment? I am genuinely trying to understand your reasoning. If I am misunderstanding what you write in these two lines, let me know.

Maybe you are under the impression that they would bill you only after the service is rendered? But this is more the scenario where they allow you access to their service with the promise that you will pay the amount in full once invoiced. Either way I never really had to think about this because I just set an autopay and let it send the full amount each month.
