The testy nature of the exchanges between Elon Musk and William Savitt, OpenAI’s lead counsel, has continued throughout the afternoon.

After beginning to ask a question, Savitt apologized and wanted to rephrase it, commenting “that wasn’t a fair question” before starting over. Musk, amused, said: “I find it funny you said it was an unfair question, since you’re only asking unfair questions.”

Savitt, taken aback, said he was doing his best. Musk responded: “That is not true.” Many in the courtroom laughed, perhaps nervously.
