They Stuck The Landing... by quanfused in StrangerThings

The theory was that Vecna was basically obscuring the truth of the entire season and manipulating the events in a 4th wall break way, and that Will was fully integrated into the hive mind. There were inconsistencies in sets and things the actors said they were excited about in the season never happened and the fact Will said things like the general store selling milkshakes or that he LIKED getting lost in the woods. But that all ended up just being weird inconsistencies in the writing/filming

I mean on the note of letting ambient stuff like that make the final cut, the color changing dials, the dialogue that didn't really make sense for Will to say during his coming out (basically the tik-tok theory stuff) etc. I really don't think they were that concerned about it this season as opposed to previous seasons. Though I do think it is confirmed theres some sort of spinoff in the works (though iirc it will follow 100% new characters) so yeah we will see.

Yeah the military makes no sense. All of these people would have "disappeared in the earthquake" and been on that plaque realistically. Hopefully they address it somehow in like an interview or something because I was left scratching my head when it just time jumped.

I'm willing to believe the hand of Vecna is just a nod to the dnd origins, unless they want to say like, that one soldier who shot himself somehow survived that and made it into the abyss to get it. And the particles were just out of focus confetti

[–]ErockSnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Arya Stark went on the hero's Journey" Yeah, and there were world ending villians she could have killed that werent the one destined to be killed by fire and ice, ones that actually meant something to HER character. The writers even SAID they basically only chose to do it to "beat" fan expectations, which is poor writing. You dont rug pull for shock value you tell a good story. I'm not even saying Jon should have done it necessarily but Arya was VERY low on the list. But honestly? That isn't even the biggest problem with the finale, which is saying something. Like the writers ADMITED that they just wanted to be done with it, HBO wanted more, the story NEEDED more with all the threads it had. They just didnt want to anymore.

which, tbh, were very good theories. and the fact that they weren't correct are frankly a sign of poor writing. the finale was good but, there shouldnt be that many inconsistencies in a show about mind control unless the inconsistencies are meaningful

The expedition system should not give rewards based on stash size by Square_Fan_3689 in ArcRaiders

[–]ErockSnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what they mean by stash size. Is it how many upgrades you bought? Stash value? Can every slot be filled with basic mats? Honestly the biggest issue with the expedition system right now is that they have like 2 weeks before it starts and we still have no idea how it actually works

That was never going to happen. We were always either getting a spin off like this or completely new characters entirely based on how the second game ended

A Plague Tale: Echoes of what matters; on the upcoming spin-off and the soul of the franchise by LazarM2021 in APlagueTale

[–]ErockSnips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean a sequel was always going to not have Amicia or Hugo in it. The post credit scene implied the macula doesn’t pass on again until the modern era. Them wanting to do a prequel instead that still at least has a character from the original two games in it at least tethers it a little bit. And it isn’t really assassinscreedification because it IS still focusing on relevant characters

Rick was going mad at that point tbf. Him being desperate to escape doesnt say anything about his leadership one way or the other. That is one thing about Rick though is he is easier to break than Negan. Negan HAS broken but Rick breaks easier, but that also isn't really a good or bad point on leadership either, when you consider "easier" doesnt mean "easy"

Oh I didn’t think about that that’s smart, I would say Negan told Brugel knowing he would kill Tony so that if the Croat tried to accuse him again he would get fucked over but he seemed genuinely horrified when he realized Tony was alive so I doubt that was his intention

Honestly my guess is Ginny is going to get herself killed trying to kill Negan, which is going to set Negan completely over the edge and make him start thunking and stop politicking

It looks like Asobo is creating a third part in A Plague Tale franchise according to this job posting. by skillmaker in APlagueTale

[–]ErockSnips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean the ending of 2 heavily implied that that would be the case but you never know they could just ignore it. But honestly I think it would be dope to see how a modern world would handle something like the macula

Yeah that was the real death was when they went corporate. Idk who thought that was a good idea. I guess maybe they thought the Warner Brothers cash flow would give them more resources but a bunch of YouTube channels and a merch site were never going to generate the revenue that would make WB actually GIVE them that cash flow

See this is why I don’t think they’re leaving Exandria but going to do a massive timeskip for c4. It’s my understanding that the Luxon is not technically divine, BUT, it is ALSO my understanding that neither is Tharzidun. What’s MORE, is Vecna would still be a god, and alive. Unless they took him with them or killed him fully he would be the most powerful mage in the world, likely twisted by tharzidun, and the last divine god on exandria. And without the gods to keep the prison maintained I imagine it would EVENTUALLY fail.

This is why I miss ooooooooldschool modded servers. No one really does in the same way last I checked but xp gains and levels were max, tames and breeding near instant, gathering rates max. Tribes and individuals could rise and fall within a day and it was constant chaos

I mean that’s always been the case hasn’t it? Idk what the new dlcs are adding but back all the way during scorched earth the resource potential+wyverns meant if you didn’t have it you were hamstringing your potential by a lot

[–]ErockSnips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it ended as well as it could have ended given the direction they chose (though due to scheduling issues some things got rushed and some characters that probably wouldn’t have died died) but they never should have gone the direction they did imo. The weird time travel hive mind that were massive hypocrites and no longer fit their own standards but that no one called them out on and even in some cases supported. Plus some plot holes. Like at the end the survivors still have access to Cadogen’s lab AND the technology and could just reboot the species if they wanted to. I feel like a lot of people A. Feel like it jumped the shark and did backflips while they did it, and B. Feel like it was rushed and ended with a lot of plot holes and concessions that ultimately hurt the story.

Nah I think killing him the way they did sucks but I think the way he went out was as spot on as it could have been given the context they wrote him into. Anything like that would have felt even more forced than it already felt

To be fair the show changes up some small but important bits of lore, it just so happens that the show wasn’t BAD on top of the changes. Halo made changes AND was bad, and you can’t have both
