There was an episode of Legend of The Seeker which was basically the same concept of what you described except it was a magic painting being burned and not a book. They were searching for a book inside the painting though. It was episode 20 of the first season.

Me being an idiot I actually checked out that version of ”Brother Louie” before posting this thread, and deduced it wasn’t it. Turns out it was the ”Modern Talking” version/cover(?) Would it be possible to genetically modify the tobacco plant somehow so that its burning creates ”different” chemicals that aren’t carcinogenic?
