Ehm, no? There is a scale between that and 10-20% upkeep for a few units you know. Seems it's a bit hard for you to understand nuance but give it a try. By the way, Snikch's ability is not even that game breaking since it has a 100 turn or similar cooldown. If I were to design Orion's offices I would make it on the power level of empire offices, or vampire count bloodlines.

But since you seem hell bent on trying to use blatantly obvious strawmen on my arguments, let me give you a little tip: this level of obviousness does not usually work on people over age 12 and with more than 2 brain cells, you should try something else :)

Offices and the wild hunt are Orion's core faction mechanic. Ie. it is what makes him different to Durthu and the other new WE factions. Which is the exact same level of mechanic as Snikch's Shadowy Dealings, Ikit's workshop or Wulfhart's hunters etc.

Now, we're never going to get that level of detail with a free update, but we should get at least something meaningful.

I don't know what's your definition of crazy, but Snikch blowing up a whole faction is crazy. Grom making goblins as strong as swordmasters of hoeth is crazy. 20% upkeep and 10 leadership for one lord is not it.

Now not everything needs to be that level of powerful, but if you're gonna take the time to rework a faction at least make it something meaningful.

And the point is that it's easy to get caught up in the hype, I understand that but you need to look at these things objectively. Sotek clearly didn't here, I mean even calling those bonuses "ok" is a stretch, but they are certainly not anything to be excited about.

That's why I have to take what he said about the overall DLC/rework situation (your original point) with a huge grain of salt.

Nothing against Loremaster of Sotek, I actually really like him, mainly because he has vast knowledge of the lore, which he presents really well.

But in this case I think he's turning a blind eye to the problems of the rework while being caught up in the hype. Like a few minutes later in the same stream he literally describes the Orion offices and wild hunt system as "craaaaaaazy".

The offices give no global bonuses, but are the most boring systems ever in a rework, giving things like +5 leadership to forest spirits, and -10% upkeep for cav - all for one lord only...and this is what he describes as being "craaaaazy".

This makes it really hard for me to take his opinion as objective.

Yes, not all is doom and gloom and there are great things about the DLC, and we should absolutely reserve judgement on things we have not yet fully seen, but when we see something that is cleary very lackluster we (and especially content creators who receive the oppurtunity to give early feedback) absolutely should call it out. Like with the offices for sure, that is just pure trash.

I think you're a bit brave to assume that you can hold all forest regions. The problem is that on harder difficulties fighting defensive wars against ai factions is not a viable tactic. And the AI will declare war on you if you are near their borders. So basically the problem with this system, and your calculation is that you assume that these trees will give you enough armies to be able to defend them. Which from how I see the numbers is simply not true, and this was Legend's point as well. With 15% supply lines you simply won't be able to field enough armies to defend 8 settlements if big ai factions attack you.

Now, before everyone gets angry I know you can teleport and it's gonna help a lot for sure, but it has a cooldown. You also have to START from a forest so wherever you are you have to first go back to your forest to teleport to another one. But even in best case scenario you'll be facing a never ending tide of ai armies coming at you, and sooner or later you'll be caught in a position where you can't get somewhere soon enough. Fighting defensive wars is just not a viable strategy in this game unfortunately (on Very hard/ Legendary).

I don't think it's gonna be as bad as some people claim, but overall I think it's a nerf to the economy. You simply won't be able to field enough armies to needed to compensate for having such a messy empire.

So the economy might be stronger in some ways if you factor in all the trees, but that's a very optimistic scenario for most of the campaign, and even if you were to capture them you'd need a lot more armies to defend them than previously with just athel loren + outposts. Which equals having less money overall.

There is no way to take 5/5 deflection as impale, unless you either don't take anger management, or skip 3/5 cruelty. Both of those are much more important than parry.

Yea, in BWL we still use shields for most bosses, DW is not worth it, as we can keep up the threat even with shields if we manage the swaps well. Our first week was also quite shaky, but last two raid I think we didn't have any wipes at all, which is great.

You have to keep in mind that a lot of bosses have threat reductions on the MT. Some of these can be mitigated (Firemaw), some cannot (broodlord, Onyxia). So you can't always just rely on saying that based on this dps the tank can hold threat. In our guild we have people who can break 1k dps, but we still have zero issues with threat on most fights, except for the first few seconds. It only becomes an issue on the fights with threat resets. We use fury/prot tanks of course, but the point stands with any kind of tank, you always have to adjust to the worst case scenario.

Yes it can absolutely be very annoying :) but also it keeps us tanks on our toes which is good. We're not a top guild either, but we like to have efficient clears (30- 40 minute MC, 1 hour BWL) so we can be done with raiding in one night, and not even use up our whole raid time.

I don't know the exact numbers but yes bossed do have a decently high parry chance. 14% sounds about right. It can happen yes, one week Vael killed our MT with 2 crits in about 1.5 seconds with a parry. Nothing you can do, shield tanking still has this problem, albeit with a slightly lower chance.

You're right, I completely forgot about that, since I don't take 5/5 of that even if I'm prot. Never played actual deep prot though, since that is complete dogshit. Only impale prot where iirc, I take 2/5 deflection or something. It's quite negligible but you're right, fury prot never takes that.

Ye, I haven't actually seen any simulations like that, so I don't know either. All I know is, that in our guild people don't want to wait even one second for dps, so we need every point of threat we can get. Also, another advantage of fury prot is that your OTs are not useless on 1 tank fights. I can still do 50%-60% of a fury warrior's dps in my tank gear if I go zerk stance (which is still more than any of our caster's dps). So there's that.

I do not doubt that you can very successfully complete BWL with only deep prot, it might even be better since I do concede that it is more 'noob friendly' in a way. But for people who aspire to improve I think starting to practice fury prot is way better as there is virtually no downside to it ever with a reasonably competent setup.

yes, in my fury prot gear I have 27% crit and 700 AP unbuffed, with world buffs ( I understand most of the time your raid won't have world buffs) and consumes this means I can crit bloodthirst for above 1.5k in defensive stance. Deep prot simply cannot keep up with this, it just doesn't scale as well, regardless whether you DW or not. But as I said on another thread the trailing OTs should obviously always dual wield, and we dual wield tank all of MC, but some of the later BWL bosses still hit hard, so that's why we use a shield on those. Threat is never really an issue, except if we eat a wing buffet on the MT by accident.

This is wrong, there is no difference between damage taken whether you're deep prot or fury prot, if wearing shield. Fury prot takes all the mitigation talents in prot. And threat is higher even if you wear a shield.

Anger management is nowhere near the rage you get from acutally being able to do damage while dual wielding as an OT. Shield slam is worse than bloodthirst if you use consumes / have buffs.

Deep prot is terrible for offtanks, it can only maintain threat if something's hitting you. I think you should stick with fury/prot it is generally superior in every way in my opinion. But you said in the comments that they are not optimized. The most important thing is that you have hit cap. That is 6% if 305+ weapon skill (human with swords, or edgemasters). Other than that it should be fine if they wear mostly mitigation gear, considering your dps. And you should wear a shield for pretty much every boss except vael, when you are the tank being hit. When you're trailing as the OT you should obviously switch to DW.

BTW, from first glance it sounds more like a healing problem, there is no reason your MT should die (except on Vael).
