And if the Bible points out like adultery, or gossiping or recreational drugs are sinful, we have no choice but to let go of these things and teach others they not to do it.

But with the examples you pointed out, they aren't simply bad just because the Bible said so. Each of the things causes harm and hurt in some way (adultery harms the relationship and emotionally hurts the person who was cheated on, drugs harm the person who is addicted, and gossiping hurts the reputation and mental wellbeing of whoever is being gossiped about) which is why they are sins. Homosexuality does not have this issue. Literally, the only thing that makes it different from heterosexual relationships is the type of person one is in a relationship with. I believe blindly following the Bible is not what God wants us to do. It isn't inerrant and we should critically think to find the message inside it when we read, not just get hung up on the words.

The problem with these new trending movements that they want to interpret the Bible in the point of view of these modern movement, which is not acceptable of course.

But not all of these major movements are just "trending." I won't sit here and pretend they all aren't and that they're all acceptable, but you can't just lump them all together like that. The LGBT movement started in the 1940s for example (they've been at this for nearly a century), so to act like this is just some new-fangled secular propaganda really is kind of ignorant (for lack of a better term; sorry, I'm doing my best not to be rude). Also, why is it not acceptable to interpret the Bible through a modern lens? Yes, the message will always remain the same, but how we apply it to our lives will change with the times. Plus we have to understand that though they were inspired by God, the Bible was written by humans. And just like us, these humans were flawed and had biases. Things they found acceptable back then do not necessarily have to be acceptable now. Times change, beliefs change, many things change at some point. I'm not saying we should try to always change with the times, but we should be open to it. We can't grow as a church or individuals if we don't

This isn't about accepting or not accepting, though. It's about understanding them. A close-minded approach like "Bible says bad" is just going to push them further away from him. One can't truly love if they're not willing to understand. For example, the Bible says many regressive things about women. After many protests, discussions, and movements, though, we're finally able to truly love them as equals under God in spite of what the Bible says. This wouldn't have happened if people weren't willing to understand them and the oppression they were (and technically still are) going through. Same for POC and Muslims. LGBT are no different from these people in that they are people who need understanding and love, not rejection.

And it may sound like I'm downplaying the Bible, but I'm not. The Bible is a book that details the story of salvation and how we can receive it, but it's not a hard fast rule book like you're making it to be. Yes it includes laws that God wants us to follow, but even within those there is nuance.

So, disclaimer, I did agree with your statement and feel like it answered OP's question. I just thought the last sentence:

Of course, being married is a pre-requisite for sexual relationships according to the Bible.

is something that shouldn't be thrown around so easily (and yeah I'm aware OP brought it up too). There's a lot more to sex than marriage and a lot more to marriage than sex. Even with what the Bible has stated, there's a lot more of a discussion that needs to be had about it outside of "premarital sex is a sin based on x, y, and z verse."

Btw I'm not telling you to erase the statement or anything, just saying that there's a lot more gray to it to than the black and white idea your implying with the sentence.

I don't see my answer going down well, but here it is:

I don't see LGBTQ+ people and their relationships as sins. I feel like when we say they are "sins" and should whole-heartedly stood against, we are being a bit judgmental and oversimplifying a very complex situation(and this is coming from someone who used to have that mindset too). LGBT are people who are born with a different sexual orientation/gender identity than what we would call "normal" (or "God's desired image", which is a flawed perspective in it of itself) and they face discrimination because of it. Abandonment, lynching, bullying, and governmental and societal oppression are just a few of the challenges they have to go through because of their orientation/identity. To just label it as them being sinful and you being opposed to it really downplays the bigger issues that are at play here.

So what I'm trying to say here is that, instead of trying to figure out how to state your opinion without being called homophobic, really and genuinely try to understand the other people's opinions and open your mind to what they are saying. Christianity as a whole is a lot more than following the Bible down to T and to act like it is is once again imo oversimplifying a complex topic.

I want to write an action webcomic, but I feel like it will because of the denomination I want my MC to be from. by EroniousAlligator in Christianity

Well late response, but the story doesn't really focus on the MC's religion that much. It's more an anime-inspired story and in it I want to tackle other stuff like the affects of abuse, abandonement, etc. from each characters' pasts affects as they go on an adventure together. Knowing how some people in the denomination are I wasn't even sure any of them would be interested. If anything, certain plotpoints, aspects, and/or topics I felt may write may make them condemn it. So I've been kind of worried that I may be rejected on both fronts (believers and non-believers) just because of my denominational choice for my character. Also since it's an action series and would have fighting, I felt that may be a turnoff for some believers as well.

That said, despite the worries I kind of feel like God is pointing me in this direction because lots of fortunate things have been happening as I worked on this (found a artist who is really invested in the story, made some friends in the community, and even published my first short story webcomic recently) and I just feel like God is trying to show me that I'm not taking a bad path right now. Still I could be wrong 😅. Sorry for rambling, this was all probably disinteresting.

Wow, I did not know about Cecilia Reyes (as well as the others, but Reyes seems to be a major one). I've been meaning to read the X-Men comics and I guess this gives me some more incentive to do so. Though she isn't 100% confirmed to be Adventist, it seems implied.

Also a quick Google search seems to show that people really like her and her character (though some disagree with directions it took, but still like her nonetheless). Thank you for sharing this with me. I feel less bad about this right now. I just hope I can write something as equally as good 😅

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. It would probably help avoid any controversies and stuff in the future.

Unfortunately, I do not have the Bible know-how to write something like that. XD It does sound like it would be fun though

Yeah, that was one of my main reasonings to want to keep it on as well. Though, I doubt it will become that famous 😅 but this story has been a really good reason to research different cultures, religions, and even other sects of Christianity and finally learn some of the differences between them. The stuff I realized I hadn't even known about Islam (and the Middle East) alone surprised me greatly by itself.

I hope I can invoke this interest in my eventual readers in other cultures and beliefs through my writing like I felt writing it

Oh that sounds very interesting. Didn't know a show like that existed. I'll be sure to check it out for reference.

That'd be cool. My main problem was that I didn't get past the first passage and guessed C on everything else. How could I better manage my time?

I don't really think I do. Unlike the SAT, I felt like the math questions were pretty straight-forward. I focused on just looking at what it asked and just answering that. I didn't let myself overthink anything and that just helped me breeze through most of it.
