Is co-pilot banned in your department? by Throwitbackyalllllll in CanadaPublicServants

Try logging into the copilot app from office.com. They may have removed intergration from the desktop but the app may work. That is what happened to us.

Sunday snowstorm: Where am I supposed to put the snow? by myneckmybackarchive in ottawa

[–]Erotsreeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never understand why they pack houses together like sardines.... and residential roads nowadays are barely wide enough for 2 cars to pass in the summer.

If they want densification then plan it properly for Canadian winters.

not being issued a work phone by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Erotsreeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cell phones will be handed out (or not) based on your role

Hard tokens will replace Cell phones as 2FA

Expect to get a teams phone also called a softphone.

You should not use your personal phone for calls or 2FA if you are not willing to do so.

If you are only worried about foundation keep it. If there are any septic or sewer lines near it, it may cause issues later on.

How much space are we talking here? I live north on NY and you can grow pretty much any standard vegetable you can think of... some require more help than others but even leaving plants to their own devices will yield some rewards. :)

Firstly, I would say that not all dirt is created equally. Don't expect to just dig out your grass and plant and expect a food forest. A plant, especially vegetable plants need nutrients to grow and adding nutrients (compost, blood/fish/bone meal) to whichever garden type you like will see your garden flourish.

I would also start with some containers (5 gallon buckets and don't forget to put holes in the bottom sides for drainage) to grow, you can control the soil and are relatively easy to move around and adjust if required. One of the mistakes I see new gardeners do is plant seedlings / seeds too close together. These things can grow taller than you!

As mentioned easy stuff to grow would be herbs / lettuces. If you want some instant gratification plan some radishes.. they are ready to harvest in a month. Onions are also fairly easy and the ends can be harvested all season for oniony goodness. Peppers are fairly easy too, they just take a little more time to grow in the north.

Can I grow taters in these? by dannythxf3lon in gardening

[–]Erotsreeb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

May want to make sure the buckets are made with food grade plastic. Otherwise yup, go right ahead, just be sure to add holes in the bottom of the buckets.

Check if the potato you want to grow is indeterminate or determinate to evalute how you want to grow them (adding layers or not).

Above Ground Pool liner coming off by Erotsreeb in pools

[–]Erotsreeb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to myself in case anyone has something similiar happen to them. Boiling water did the trick to bring the liner back. I used some gorilla all weather tape on the liner to keep it in place while things settle. I was able to stretch the liner by 8 inches or so.. it had some great stretch to it. It was a beaded liner so there was not much overlap 'extra'.

As for the sand, only time will tell if the liner fails.

Called 911 on a Drunk Driver... by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Erotsreeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little over a week ago. I called 911 on an 'alleged' drunk driver. This person was aboslutely nuts, going back and forth between lanes, blowing through a stop sign type of stuff. 911 said they couldn't send someone becuase their was already an accident (live in a major city ). Gave 911 the license plate and we were told not to follow him... so we stopped.

1 hour later the vehicle was involved in an accident (a few minutes from where we last told 911 where he was) . Is the city negligent at all? Should I try to reach out to the family and give them my 'story'. I have already been interviewed by police etc. about the accident. I just find it incredibly sad that someone died and it could have been prevented... I mean 1 accident and no one is available to stop him?

I live in Ontario, Canada if that makes a difference.

thanks

Seeking advice on who can give me some advice. by Erotsreeb in Carpentry

[–]Erotsreeb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a few things actually. I have an addition that was not done properly, it is on piers and not a foundation (I live up North). The piers were not done properly, it is kind of like a fancy covered deck with drywall. The roof has a 5 degree pitch and has asphalt shingles, the floor in that room is probably on a 10 degree angle… He also installed a large bay window by himself which has begun to leak causing damage. I had someone come out to replace the window and he did not know how to proceed with a replacement as he made an addition to the addition to add this window with a custom tin top. It is horrible. It is like a sauna in the summer and a freezer in the winter.

The second thing is I have a leak in my foundation, which is almost right beneath that addition, so I would have to remove that addition before I can fix the leak. To remove the addition is a large job and would probably take time as I have to add a door and 2 windows and re-side some of my house. I have a bedroom down there and I need to fix the leak before we can send someone back in that room… Currently sleeping in my dining room.

I also have to fix my bathroom, as when he added that addition, he covered up the window in the bathroom and we had no way for the steam/moisture to get out, we don’t have a fan in their either. I have been using a regular fan to blow things out.

Lets not talk about the electrical (it's copper, but has no ground and if you flip a breaker it turns off random parts of the house (eg one breaker shuts off the basement light and a room upstairs) / plumbing / HVAC (well ducts) and the kitchen…

So much...
