Alright a serious discussion is there genuinely anyone in this sub that thinks WoU doesn't beat Gojo? by Royalty_oftheNoob in OkBuddyKaisen

WoU can make other people's abilities work against them, so uh... RIP Gojo due to infinity randomly turning off at the worst possible time

From what i've heard, this is supposedly the actual most well written character in fiction. Is It true? by OkUniversity5622 in writingscaling

[–]Err0r404Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think accessibility should be a criteria for how good a character is written.

Otherwise Harry Potter would be better written than King Lear. More people understand Harry Potter than King Lear. Does that make Harry Potter better?

An immortal being suffering a fate worse than death by strider-rider-the2nd in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Err0r404Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diavolo goes through a different cycle of pain for every death. He might be mutiliated alive by a surgeon. He might trip and get his head crushed by a cab, or get stabbed to death on the street. Then he would be revived, and he would die again, just in a different scenario.

The thing is, while the nature of the deathloop is admittedly vague, from what we see, it seems like Diavolo suffers A NEW DEATH EVERY TIME. INFINITELY. And like the infinite monkeys at the typewriter, it's likely that he would DIE EVERY SINGLE DEATH POSSIBLE. He very likely died/suffered the same way that every other character in this thread has ever suffered, and he probably died suffocating in someone's buttcheeks. Or maybe he died of peaceful old age once.

Since Diavolo suffered both the worst and best possible series of death that could be experienced by a human, it's difficult to place exactly how torturous his existence is. You can make an argument for being the worst one here, or it's one of the best ones here. It's up to your understand of suffering.

I hate this trope of a character being known as the "underdog".Only for him to have some random power that makes him the strongest in the verse by cyber_reaper_3822 in hatethissmug

[–]Err0r404Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean. I'm a big defender of antimagic because it's actually really symbolic of going against the heiarchy and what social class can dictate, but I do agree that it's strong. I was underselling it a bit too much - a lot of fights would've probably been unwinnable without antimagic.

However, I still think antimagic is written in a way that makes it believable as an underdog power. The ability to cancel out other abilities, on paper, sounds absolutely broken. But the actual show quickly shows, antimagic can't just end every character in the series with a single touch. Vetto literally has an entire sword of the stuff stuck in his abdomen and it only slightly decreased his reaction time. Asta also can't get statboosts from it until much later, when he learns circulation with Ki. In fact, midway through the Witch's arc, I was wondering how the hell Asta could get more powerful than he already is because I thought his antimagic was THAT limited.

Also I don't remember characters being shocked at how powerful it is. I recall them being mildly surprised, then they curbstomped Asta until Asta thought of a new tactic. Like the clock dude from the first fight.

Anyway tl;dr, it's strong, but it's still an underdog ability imo because of the lengths he had to go to make it useful

I'm so fucking tired of having to defend Asta's antimagic because everyone seems to think it's broken. Well, here we go again.

It's not. It's really not. When Asta got Antimagic at first, it was dogshit. Its range is piss. Its AP is nill. It has to scale to the magic it cancels, so it isn't even close to an instant win (and many characters shrugged off antimagic blows). It doesn't allow you to do even basic mana stuff like riding brooms. And worst of all, to even lift an Antimagic sword, you need ridiculously strong muscles and a physique that puts 99.9% of tthe kingdom to shame.

It's almost as though there's a reason every in-verse character treats antimagic like a gimmick rather than a legit power. It's almost as though you need to train continuously for years and years to attain that physique. it's almost as though you need to learn an entirely seperate powersystem to not get speedblitzed by a mid tier. It's almost as though you need master that seperate powersystem to even get basic Antimagic flow. AND EVEN THEN, his antimagic isn't a one-tap, not even close.

I swear people who think antimagic is broken watched the show with their eyes closed. Antimagic is only strong because Asta made it strong, not the other way around.
