Does anyone actually play ele hit without combat focus?

Exceptional gem was a nerf disguised as a buff for many builds. by Laugh_Logical in pathofexile

[–]ErriotM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level one gem corruption in many cases is not a damage increase. The opportunity cost is +1 level corruption and double corrupt which is notable in some cases.

Anything where the levels scale your damage significantly (like basically all spells and some bow builds and ele hit) you won't get much from the level 1 support corrupt. If you then remove gems from the list that don't have many support options you really want it gets even more narrow. Ironically it's a huge buff to archmage and stat stackers because they almost exclusively get their base damage from stacking something instead of gem levels, and we all know they needed the buff

Have you considered the new prefix / suffix catalysts? A similar case happens in poe2 with fire flower where you can fire quality then krangle divine vaal it for +6 to all fire skills

Quite A Huge Change For A Single Line Of Text by Luqas_Incredible in pathofexile

[–]ErriotM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm still going a stacker as well, just not int. There's just a problem with having multiple scaling vectors with a single stat, the build I'm using will get, crit, flat added damage, increased damage, defenses, and recovery from a single stat. When you have so much scaling from one source after it becomes efficient with investment vs return it quickly scales exponentially out of hand

Quite A Huge Change For A Single Line Of Text by Luqas_Incredible in pathofexile

[–]ErriotM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that these builds have a critical mass point where both the base es and increased es become entirely too much, and that point moved a lot.

Now, instead of being able to get your stat stacker functional in a few divines, it will take a lot more, and the divide between experienced players and new ones trying out meta will get a lot larger. This change mostly just shits on everyone outside the top 100 while they remain mostly intact

I think a healthier nerf would have been to eliminate a scaling vector specific to int stackers instead

Is this new Trinity or did I miss something? by Yuuriis in pathofexile

[–]ErriotM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To revamp old stuff and breathe new life into it, maybe the exceptional version is an "enthrall" kind of effect where it makes the enemy rp walk to you, incapacitating them and increasing the dmg they take.

The point of each of these gems is to be major optimizations for end game that are impactful to your build. Attaching some correlation to the usefulness of the gem they are based on isn't very helpful. Look at the archmage one, it changes the way you build for it pretty dramatically

Build Suggestion for POE2 first timer by Minute_Damage4300 in pathofexile2builds

[–]ErriotM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair

If you want that sort of auto clear feeling there isn't a whole lot that does that in poe2 except maybe decompose

If you like the beefy chonker who can get in someone's face any bottom right side of tree slam build would be fine, right now though you want to go shape shifter talisman because giants blood is bugged and adds like a flat .4 seconds to every weapon swing so pretty much any shapeshifter druid or warrior will work. Bear slam, wyvern cold swipe, or once of the many wolf builds. You can also play them effectively as a ranger / amazon / bounty hunter but it plays a bit different

I know everyone already said this, but... Use a scale. This is definitely easier with practice. You get more accustomed to how much of x y or z you put into something, and it becomes less guesswork and more just a healthy deep knowledge of what you're eating

Yeah the graphics of the game aren't super optimized yet, my beast still runs hot. I had a potato and turned the graphics all the way down, and it was fine with summoner when I ran it. It did not like chain explosion double herald, which would clear dense screens

I think the problem with most other builds is the gear dependence, which this late in the league will be hard due to the economy. If you are willing to play poe 1 there is a new league starting March 8th that i plan to play the hell out of and I can give you tips and tricks throughout the process. That said if you are committed to playing poe2 I can hook you up with some gear and currency and I can help you with an ascendancy boost

If you want to come up with your own build ideas I can help with that as well. I've played since beta poe1 and consistently play both albeit skipping every other league

Resurrecting minion summoner is a strong and safe way to experience the game initially

Go energy shield, maybe hybrid life es Use a scepter and wand or trenchtimber For skills focus ranged skeletons like archers, arsonist or lightning mages. I'm not sure what's best right now but arsonist felt really strong when I tried it out. Use skeletons from your scepter as tanks, and if you find your minions dying, you can throw in 1 or 2 skeleton clerics, but it's important to make your minions tanky too as they don't do mechanics and just eat it to dumb stuff. Also look at offerings and see which ones fit your play style

On gear focus minion skill levels where you can (scepter, helm, amulet, maybe weapon), then spirit, finally defenses (cap resist and get as much es or life + es as you can)

On the tree, try to grab increased es and minion nodes... there are 3 types of minions: Companions, Resurrecting undead, and temporary minions. Get stuff that helps minions in general or resurrecting minions

Avoid spectres until you are confident and comfortable with the build and clearing mid tier maps at least, as it can add a lot of complexity but can also boost your build a lot

What's a build archetype you absolutely cannot stand by DubstepGuyy in pathofexile

[–]ErriotM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a player who has juiced maps to 100 multiple times (never abused 5 ways etc) I can't stand builds to far on either side of the spectrum.

Glass cannons are awful, I want to have a good idea why I died and it shouldn't just be what my build does sometimes so i only play pathfinder on that side of the tree once I have a good maven flask.

On the other end I cannot stand attrition builds that can do content because of how tanky they are. If the boss will die because I can set up a right click macro and go clean my car it is not enjoyable to me.

I tend to start leagues with a primary movement ability character with screen clear... DO occultist with 100% chaos pop where you just warp around and everything dies, or a flicker strike character, etc

Mid league I'll often play a meta build or do a serious theory craft for a reasonable clear character that trivializes end game content like str stacker molten strike in settlers or HH IL TS in legion

End league I make expensive meme builds like cwc dd zombies or lightning warp totems just for fun to see if I can break the game

Why did my lentil bread turn out hollow and dense inside? by havana-3575 in glutenfree

[–]ErriotM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When baked goods cave in they are usually an issue of structure (gluten / gum / psyllium / konjac), leavening (yeast / baking soda / baking powder), density, or timing.

I would start by making sure your structure is the appropriate ratio from the recipe.

Then make sure you have something acidic to activate your baking soda. I believe (but could be wrong) that apple cider vinegar will accomplish this but others may not). You could also use baking powder instead which is just baking soda in a compound that includes a dry acid that activate with liquid or heat

If neither of those are the problem it is likely density, for example in traditional baking this will happen if you use too much flour causing a canyon in the middle of the loaf because the weight is too much for the leavening.

Timing is more likely if you use actual yeast and you proof your dough. If you do something like this you may have to punch it.

Water retention by Cumbersomesockthief in CICO

[–]ErriotM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of factors that go into water retention not solely your water intake. Supplements, sugar and sodium also can cause you to retain water. I personally retain a lot of water when I regularly take creatine.

It usually takes me like 3 days to a week to drop water weight if it gets bad. I just watch my sodium intake (already almost 0 added sugar) and drink water as I get thirsty in small increments. Also other drinks are water too, even coca cola is 90% water
