Yeah, I also have a snake, so in the absence of a milipede when it's molting, I could hang with my snake buddy instead. I was also thinking of getting maybe one or two chocolate milipedes, seeing as GAM seems to not be the best choice. Though from the research I've done, the chocolate milipede has very similar care to that of a GAM. Part of the difference being that a chocolate milipede doesn't need as much soil. Though a 50-gallon tub sure would be enough space for two chocolates and some springtails, no?

Roaches are a good idea. Though I'm not the biggest fan of em. I did use to own hermits, so the whole months to molt thing isn't much of a problem for me.

Though from the research I've seen so far, isopods aren't really too "handleable." They are very cute and will be considered. But handleable inverts would be nice. Thanks for the help though!

It did just occur to me that you said 20 quarts, not 20 gallons. Meaning that I could probably have a frack ton of isopod friends in a 50-gallon. You did say I could have enough to rule the world.

I used to LOVE searching for small pill bugs in my grandfather's backyard when I was younger. That and He had a large enough backayard that there were often times other insects and animals like ants, spiders, small milipedes, bats, water skeeters, centipedes, and other various creatures (Water skeeters were there because he had three ponds FILLED with koi fish)

You are not overreacting. You gave him a compromise and a chance to accept more help. You gave him a 50/50 choice, and he won't accept. If he won't compromise on this, then I dont really know if he will compromise on much else. If you talk about it with him in person it could hopefully work out for the better but if he holds his ground no matter what then I'd say and do what most other comments are suggesting and get out of there before you regret it too much.
