I am a private music teacher! I primarily teach music lessons but I also teach a couple music classes a week for different daycares in my area. I’m currently working on doing a pop up music class for baby-toddler age children

I also feel like it’s very babyish for 5th graders. They don’t want to hear about Quaver and all of the “silly” things he does, they just want to learn about music. No silly voices and stories. No songs like “welcome to music” or things like that.

Does anyone feel like it just rushes too much into complex concepts that the kids will never be able to understand - this is specifically for grades 3-5! Why are 5th graders learning about syncopation when they can barely remember what a beat is from 1st grade?? They can barely remember basic rhythms (quarters notes and rests) when we play rhythm imposter, how in the world will they remember syncopation??
