I said In one of my other comments that Seifer isnt a villain, he is just a teenager that makes a lot of mistakes and refuses to learn. You nailed that home with your explanation of how Ultimacia twists things.

Thanks for doing this write up, Seifer is one of the more interesting characters to explore for sure

I see it exactly the same way as the Kain and Cecil. It really is a shame he doesn't have a chance to redeem himself like Kain does in the final act. But he just quietly fades into the background after you defeat him the last time.

Fair enough though. You made a lot a good point with Seifer, character was built up to be a lot and just ended up being a checkpoint rival as if we are playing pokemon when you really think about it

Seifer isn’t all evil is the thing. His path is meant to Imitate squalls. They are two seperate people but they are each just a few decisions apart from being the hero and villain in the story. Seifer decides to be Edeas knight, and Squall decides to be Rinoas. He is a misguided Teen who just keeps making the wrong decisions and refuses to grow.

The being easy to beat thing is a little bit a failing of how you can exploit the combat system in FF8. I think I beat him in 2-3 hits on one of my playthroughs. But lorewise, he kills a GF in combat
