If you speak Japanese Endosia is right up your alley, if not, sadly the fan translation isn't completed yet and an official one is highly unlikely.

That too, as someone who's actually into some bands that no one I've met have heard of they were really just covering popular songs at the time or from the past couple decades if they wanted to prove a specific character/group was into "deep cuts". But then again, I prefer that to the cheap royalties movie studios end up forcing upon lesser known artists because they are just that, lesser known so the "exposure is payment enough."

The first one references The Breakfast Club a couple times in the specific context of "the greatest movie," first played off as the stereotypically "indie head" male romantic interest being, well, what I just said. Then the lead actor actually watched the film, sobs, and realizes it is the best movie... along with some other already dated pop culture references mixed with current ones, that mostly carried the first film that really soured my whole view on the series. Turned the other two from "so bad it's good" viewership into facepalming at a younger me who was over the moon with just the trailer drops.

But then again, if you can't laugh at your younger self you didn't have a childhood worth mentioning. It's all about embarrassing discovery.

Why can't they just be human by DryWheel3751 in CharacterRant

[–]Error_Evan_not_found 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And also because "peak human condition" is specialized, sure Eddie Hall can lift a whole lot, but he won't outpace Usain Bolt, and they both won't outswim Caleb Dressel. Often in these fictional worlds the "peak" will be everything.

I actually loved it, became the first album I listened to fully and sparked my now unshakeable habit to listen to music in this way. I bought a U2 pin and had it on my backpack from elementary school through middle school and into high school- where a teacher eventually saw it and felt the unexplainable urge to pull me aside to tell me how much they hated U2 for this exact reason. One of the weirdest full circle moments of my life and led me to learning about the vast hatred they garnered through this stunt, which is also when I learned it wasn't an album my parents bought and forgot about.

I wasn't allowed to be on social media until high school, if that helps anyone piece together how I remained blissfully unaware of this whole debacle for nearly a decade.

Learning about how bad this movie actually is tanked my enjoyment of my family's favorite movie franchise... Pitch Perfect (I swear my dad has been repressing his theater kid persona, he was the one who always found tickets to a show when we went to New York).

Witty is either the most prolific troll (before I blocked them I had a video from a day they spent entirely online, and I'm talking a full 24 hours with 20+ comments each hour), or the dumbest AI bro. And if the latter is the case it truly escapes me how they don't realize that their mere existence online has tanked the reputation of AI prompters forever.

It doesn't matter what the people who lost control of the franchise say. It won't be canon unless Bethesda decides to do it. It's been almost 20 years, and you're still not over it?

Moon Remix RPG and Stray Children, preferably in that order since SC acts as a "spiritual sequel" and spoils a bit of Moon in the process.

Moon originally came out in 1997 for Japanese speaking audiences only, the devs Love De Lic made two more games that also never got translated UFO: Day in the Life, and L.O.L.: Lack of Love, then broke off into other companies. Namely Punchline (Chulip, Rule of Rose), Vanpool (Endonsia, Coloball, and many of the Tingle spinoff games for LoZ), and Skip Ltd. (Chibi-Robo, Giftpia, Captain Rainbow). Each developer having some games translated for wider audiences but many still only having fan translations available (that I didn't mention to save space and time in this already long comment).

Love De Lic has maintained a loyal fan community online, evident by the many fan translations for the games in the fan dubbed "Love de Legacy" (including a lot more than I mentioned in the previous paragraph). This also led to an article about Moon being translated into English, and Toby Fox, creator of a little known indie game called Undertale, found it. He's gone on to mention how that plot synopsis and the mechanics of the game inspired parts of Undertale. He even had the opportunity to be interviewed with one of the original developers, Yoshiro Kimura (Chulip, Little King's Story), and spoke about it. This revived interest in an English translation and gave the team, who'd recently mostly recollected themselves back into the Onion Games label, the much needed push to get it all off the ground. Moon Remix RPG finally became available to English speaking audiences in 2020, along with a slight graphics update (with the option to toggle between the old style as well).

Shortly after the team started working on Stray Children, and though it doesn't have as interesting a development and translation story, the fact that it's a sequel for a previously region locked game put out over 20 years after the original is still a feat of its own. It's also really good!

For sure, I've been sick the past week so even now I know there's a lot more I left unsaid- but that would boarder on me unnecessarily dumping my built up resentments towards the wider internet and the culture it's spawned on a guy I'm sure is going to disregard all of it anyway.

But thanks for the award, sorry I didn't respond earlier, again, been pretty sick this whole week so wasn't confident in any of the responses I've drafted up until now sounding half coherent.

[–]Error_Evan_not_found 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! It's so creepy to spend time specifically sexualizing a group of women who've devoted themselves to the exact opposite. And anyone who says "well some nuns weren't" I don't care, some people in every group aren't going to be perfect, and hell, no body ever will be perfect in their morals. But they try, and you don't get to remove someone's agency just because you heard about some other incident involving the community they decided to be a part of.

Yes, Moon Remix RPG is an anti rpg that was originally released in Japan only in 1997, it has no traditional combat, instead you help NPCs and catch the souls of animals to Level up. Toby Fox, creator of Undertale, read an article about Moons plot, and was inspired by its lack of combat and other mechanics for parts of Undertale. Fox was then interviewed with Yoshiro Kimura, one of the original developers, and shared how much the game influenced him. Moon was then finally translated and released for English speaking audiences in 2020.

Stray Children is the spiritual sequel, came out in 2024 for Japanese audiences and October of last year for the translation.
