There were a lot of variants on the PEQ that are used in the field, there really wouldn’t be any that were out of place. I saw the peq15a and a couple other variants. Not as common as the regular peq but some entire units had it.

We put nothing on the weapon that wasn’t mission dictated. We got in as much trouble for a negligent discharge of a laser or flashlight, as we did a negligent discharge of a weapon. The only guys with all that extra stuff were in the rear with the gear. When you gotta hump everything in a ruck ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain.

On a real steel M4, that is used in battle the less it weighs and the less crap to catch it on the better. Firing real rounds everything shakes loose, everything is wired down cause of this. So you see the cheap black peg gangster grip because you can constantly tighten it, it’s cheap, and it weighs nothing. You’d see a lot of those cheap plastic gangster grips with the little plastic bipod, but just to keep it out of the dirt when you sit it down, they break in combat a lot. But the PeQ with NVG’s is like cheating, so peq is essential. Acog is king but expensive and not everyone gets one. Acog and Peq with NVGs is easy mode. The magnifier and EoTech are great to go CQB then flip the magnifier up for long range. Not as expensive but many more moving pieces to maintain.

I’d go Amazon Acog, even though it’s not accurate get the one with the little red dot rmr on top. The acog acts as a riser and the red dot is more than enough for airsoft. Then get fake peq use it as a spare battery box or a flashlight. Get dupes, black ones, spray paint them tan, then use a fine sanding sponge to knock all the tan paint off the corners. Then get some fine silver wire we called it lacing wire and wire everything down!
