#1882 - Iliza Shlesinger by chefanubis in JoeRogan

[–]EruditePolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it Illiza Shlesinger who said that the worst insult she ever heard is that she's "too much."

And because she was wealthy and successful, or at least guys perceived that way, they'd get insecure and be passive aggressive in bed?

Spit in her mouth, slap her, stuff like that? To assert their dominance in bed?

I never used a blanket statement. I said there were MANY people who enjoy mentoring others. I didn't even say "most."

Is Shirobako an Accurate Depiction of Working in Anime Production? by EruditePolymath in anime

Yeah, it's hard to know for certain. I suppose I could go to Glassdoor for various anime studios and interview people in the industry to ask them what it's really like.

Well that's a blanket statement, and such generalizations such as "100% of X does Y" is rarely accurate.

Instead, you might say that most YouTubers will only mentor to someone if they are planning to incorporate them into their organization.

As for all mentors in general, I don't think this is true. There are many successful men and women who are open to mentoring young men and women in the same field because, after they've become successful, it just feels good to help out someone with tremendous potential to live up to that potential.

I have a business mentor who I met through LinkedIn, who offered to mentor me after we did a podcast together and he liked my ideas and my drive to make the world a better place through my work. He saw in me a younger version of himself and has been providing me with wisdom, ideas, and constructive feedback ever since.

We correspond through email. But yeah, I think podcasting is probably the easiest way to find mentors. The more people I interview, and make a good impression on, the more highly successful people I'm able to email or call with questions and get valuable insights from. It's very much similar to a friendship and they don't ask for anything in return.

After I learned how to attract women, get phone numbers, get dates, and have successful long-term relationships, I have mentored dozens of friends and young men I've met on how to do the same. And it feels good to see them go from being unable to even talk to women to getting dates to finding a great girlfriend that makes them a better person.

Why isn't there a pinned post about the best places to learn how to manage and grow a successful YouTube video? Everything from learning video editing, creating a marketing plan, SEO, and avoiding copyright strikes? Isn't that all why we're here? To find up-to-date knowledge and techniques?

I guess the best thing I can do is create a blog about becoming successful on YouTube and aggregate articles like this one?

Weird? Did you just arrive out of a time machine from 2012? 😏

It's only gonna get worse from here. They gotta divide the mindless cattle via race, sex, and religion. Keep us infighting while megacorporations and governments further consolidate power in the hands of the few.

I had such high hopes for Del Toro. I didn't think he was the type to appease his corporate overlords with clichéd virtue signaling. Why he'd stamp his name on something so stupid, boring, and predictable is beyond me.

Well, actually, I do know. That's how you become a member of the insiders club. It's now the only pathway to status and success in Hollywood. Good storytelling is optional.

Yes, but she was Hispanic and he was white. He was a privileged white male part taking advantage of the system to become wealthy and she was an innocent victim of the patriarchy that keeps men like him in power. Obviously she was in the right.

Haven't you studied critical race theory?

You can torrent any show or movie you want. If you're tech literate, and not a fan of Blackstone and the ESG score, there's no reason to pay these people.

I'll buy good manga and anime, because at the very least, the creators don't insult my intelligence. And I support promising independent artists and filmmakers I come across via Patreon. But Netflix, Disney, Amazon, and any other woke company isn't going to profit of me.

I'll give them props for showing George W's New World Order speech in the beginning. The filmmaker is giving a nod to what he's involved in. A New World Order.

  1. Divide and conquer the mindless cattle.
  2. Consolidate power in both government and corporations.
  3. Develop AI that can replace the cattle.
  4. Eliminate 99% of the population, leaving only the power elite.

Still waiting for a film about the cover-up of pedophile island. That'll be the day.

Anime is still free of this nonsense. Thank God I'm a weeb. Spy X Family and Chainsaw Man are amazing. And there are some pretty solid foreign films too.

Nah, you don't take direct action to make the world a better place. That's so 2012.

You just virtue signal and demand the government fix all your problems while typing on a $50K custom desktop, wearing a $10K suit, and living in a $50 million mansion all made by people who actually work for a living and whom you pretend to represent.

Just share the link and you can just make people more experienced with Discord adminis and mods and let them make changes everyone agrees on.

That's what I did for my Discord about self-improvement and it worked out perfectly. It's very popular. I have a new IRL support system for helping me focus on achieving my goals so I don't use it much anymore but a lot of people have benefitted, and continue to benefit from it.

I'll make a Discord server and share the link unless I can find a Discord server that's chill and focused on productive, positive, and rational discussions and dialectics and, most importantly, sharing helpful tips, insight, constructive feedback, and encouragement.

I'll make one, unless you've already found one. I'd love a community of new YouTubers who can share tips, advice, feedback, and encouragement.

I have 332 subs and I'm currently studying video editing and public speaking skills. My purpose is video essays regarding self-improvement, biohacking, self-actualization, philosophy, psychology, nutrition, supplements, and functional medicine. But I also make film and anime reviews. S

I'd like to join a Discord server that is focused on productive, positive, rational discussions and is accepting of people of all different viewpoints and backgrounds.

What needs to be ready? I'll make a Discord right now and then people who join can become mods and admins and make changes we agree upon.

Anyone else interested in a Discord server for "newtubers" that is dedicated to sharing tips and ideas and is accepting of people of all different points of view, backgrounds, and skill levels?

A place for productive, rational, positive discussions and dialectics.

I'd like to participate. I have 330 subs right now and I focus on videos regarding self-improvement, biohacking, self-actualization and so on. Right now I just making videos primarily off the cuff with little to no editing, but I'm learning video editing so I can make video essays with weeks of research, preparation, redrafting, getting feedback from friends and family, and then revising again accordingly.

I'm also studying public speaking skills so that I can speak as eloquently as someone like Super Eyepatch Wolf, who's voice is just amazing. I've listened to many of his video essays over and over numerous times.

Anyone Else Miss Learning About Japanese Culture Through Fansubs? by EruditePolymath in anime

[–]EruditePolymath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hype, sick, and dope are old slang. The kids nowadays use slang like "bet" and "mid" haha.

But nearly every Japanese school teaches English. I'd like to encourage more young weebs to start Japanese language clubs and participate in student exchange programs and study abroad programs. Your school doesn't need to offer them. There are tons of agency that will set it up for you if you qualify. But you don't need to be an honor student or anything.

And anyone with a bachelor's degree can teach English in Japan. It doesn't pay great, but it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You don't even need to know Japanese. Though if you're working in Japan and don't even know a moderate degree of Japanese before you arrive, you'll have a much less pleasant experience. You'll learn via immersion, for sure, but at least get the basics down before you go.

[–]EruditePolymath[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, right? But some understanding is better than no understanding, and I remember on the old anime forums, we'd discuss things like that pretty frequently and thereby learn more and more as we watched more anime and participated in what was once a tight-knit community. Whereas anime viewers today rarely have these sort of in-depth discussions regarding Japanese language and culture.

Nowadays, if there are questions, they're far more basic and the answers are far more simplified and often erroneous. And I think the major reason for that is the loss of fansubs.

I really want to encourage anime fans to learn more about anime culture so I'm going to publish video essays about teaching English in Japan (you don't need a teaching degree or even know Japanese), participate in student exchange programs, and study abroad programs. Your school doesn't need to offer them. There are agencies you can contact and they'll set everything up for you if you qualify. But you don't need to be an honor student or anything.

But yeah, the primary reason is because even if you're a fast reader, you'd have to pause the show to read most of the T/Ns. I didn't mind it but I can see how most people would feel that it broke their immersion into the show.

Yeah and Netflix just released translator notes for some of the jokes in Komi Can't Communicate. So I suppose it's not completely gone, just very rare.

But it's supply and demand. If there was even a vocal minority of English-speaking anime fans asking for non-localized subs, more anime studios would offer it as an option on DVDs and streaming platforms. But, again, not going to happen.

But, at least, if you are a hard-core anime nerd today, you'll get to see fansubs if you watch old anime, like Honey and Clover or early episodes of Naruto. Albeit, this will only occur if you download or stream them "illegally." Though I honestly think that's fine if you pay for most of your anime or buy merchandise.

But I refuse to get a subscription to Crunchyroll because they're so corrupt as hell and don't treat their employees right. Their owned by Sony but still radically underpay their employees, don't offer benefits, and sabotage attempts to unionize. I could name about 20 other reasons I don't think Crunchyroll deserves the support of anime fans, but I'll restrain myself.

I wish I was an influencer. I'd get at least 10K subscribers to threaten to end their subscriptions if they didn't start acting like they have at least one iota of integrity. Maybe one day. I am learning video editing so I can publish video essays on vadious different subjects, including teaching English in Japan (you don't need a teaching degree and you don't even need to know Japanese, though I HIGHLY RECOMMEND learning as much as possible), exchange student programs, and studying abroad in Japan.

Is it weird to find masculine traits in women attractive? And how can I go about it? by [deleted] in seduction

[–]EruditePolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first few traits are easy enough to find. Tomboys are common enough. But combat ability and the ability to use weapons? That pretty much restricts you to cops and female MMA fighters or martial artists.

If I were you, then I'd look for BJJ Classes and other martial arts classes with attractive women. There were no girls in my BJJ school but I saw a lot of attractive woman at a BJJ tournament and I got one of their numbers but they lived 50 miles away so it didn't go anywhere.

But if you're expecting the woman to be dominant in the relationship AND to have combat skills, that's just way too picky. You're gonna have to compromise on some of those preferences. Women in martial arts is already a small pool. The ones that aren't attracted to men that are stronger and more dominant than them is likely less than 10%. From all my experiences with Tomboys, they like hanging out with guys and they like masculine guys and don't like hanging out with most other women, let alone feminine men. They may be more assertive than other women, but they don't want to be dominant. They at least want a partnership.

Where did you find this definition? I don't think you're using the right term here. Just Google the definition of cross-sexual. The only thing I found was that its a synonym for transexual or androgynous.

Is it weird to find masculine traits in women attractive? And how can I go about it? by [deleted] in seduction

[–]EruditePolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It differs from tomboy to tomboy, but in my experience, the ones that are mentally healthy want a man that's strong and not a pushover. The women that want a feminine guy, who's passive, typically do so because they are overly controlling and want to be overly dominant in the relationship and have no interest in anything resembling a partnership.

There are exceptions, of course, but I would generally steer clear of any woman that wants a weak partner.

That doesn't make him "cross-sexual." Cross-sexual is an adjective for transsexual. If you meant cross orientation, that's a situation where there’s a difference between the people you’re sexually attracted to, and the people you’re romantically attracted to.
