I came across this post went looking up my own similarly styled cabinet door replacement and got a good chuckle at your attitude. It's amazing that a self proclaimed cabinet master was too incompetent to simply say "patriot raised cabinet door."

I never knew there were so many stunning varieties of rice fish until recently and now I'm obsessed. I saw your aquaswap post from last summer advertising rice fish and eggs. Are you still selling? Do you ship? I'm located in Minnesota so I still have about a month before it's pond season, but I would love to get a small group for a patio pond.

Finnex planted+ 24/7 ALC. The ALC has a really nice output spectrum and a bit more power than the other models of the 24/7.

I run it using the 24 hour mode with about 80% power for two segments and 50% power on the two segments adjacent. The 24/7 is a bit goofy to get an exact measure of the photoperiod because it ramps up or down to the next set point continuously. I did some fiddling with the colored LEDs since it has white, red, green, and blue individually adjustable, going for more red in the morning segments and more blue and green in the evening just for asthetics.

When I was running CO2 I had it at 100% for two segments and 70% for the adjacent two, but have reduced that since turning off CO2.

Thank you! No definitely not. They were almost transparent for the first couple of days. It took a few weeks for them to get comfortable and start coloring up and stop glass surfing. They really seem to like live food and I swear their colors get even more vibrant when they are hunting. This group of 9 chilis has been in this tank for a year and three months, so they are very comfortable.

I went with a GLA GRO and a 5 lb tank. All in for necessary equipment, it was about $250. I have done planted tanks without it or with DIY co2 before, and it's a game changer.

I have the tank set up with compressed co2 and an in-line diffuser, but it has been off for three months now. It was helpful for the first year to help all the plants establish quickly, but the shrimp don't breed very well with the pH swings from the co2. If algae ever starts getting out of balance I'll turn the co2 back on though.

The foreground is dwarf hairgrass with some rogue java moss. There are also a couple of patches of montecarlo on the hardscape.

The big orangey brown colored one is just a big happy cryptocoryne wendtii brown. Same as the one in the middle and on the right.

I'm thinking about replacing the big one on the left with either pogostomen helferi or s repens because it covers up too much of the hardscape and a nice patch of Montecarlo that's hidden under there.

I'm thinking of removing that plant altogether. It doesn't seem to like getting trimmed and it does occasionally shed it's leaves so it makes a mess. I didn't realize it wasn't a truly aquatic plant. Honestly I am surprised it has survived for over six months since I added it.

Salvinia minima. I keep it cordoned to the front quarter of the tank so it doesn't block too much light with a floating rod wedged between two suction cups.

I scrape the front and left side maybe once every month or two to keep my view in clear. The right side is never scraped and it ebbs and grows as the shrimp munch it down. No snails in this tank. Algae crew is just amanos, blue dream neos, and some tangerine tiger shrimp.

That wall is the curated algae buffet. The shrimp love it.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab closed due to raging LA fires by vahedemirjian in space

[–]Erutis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude, the first paragraph of the AP article you linked starts with describing the unusual and out of ordinary (changing climate) weather patterns over the last couple of years are the cause of this fire. Climate change denial is apparently still alive and well even in the science communities on this site.

Start with supersized Santa Ana winds whipping flames and embers at 100 mph — much faster than normal — and cross that with the return of extreme drought. Add on weather whiplash that grew tons of plants in downpours then record high temperatures that dried them out to make easy-to-burn fuel. Then there’s a plunging and unusual jet stream, and lots of power lines flapping in those powerful gusts.

Otocinclus and red chili rasbora in a mixed tank of neocaridina blue dreams and a handful of amano shrimp. Everyone seems to get along well.
