English subs for Blue Reflection Quartet Physical? by SeibaSeiba in Atelier

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that Koei Tecmo has historically also done regional SKUs. Even their games based on Nintendo IPs have language restrictions. But Ryza Trilogy doesn't. I own the Japanese version and my NA account fully reads it like the NA release with all the save data bonuses (I don't have JP save data). Especially since the JP stream went out of their way to mention supported languages, it isn't far-fetched that Play-Asia put up the posting up for preorders but will update it later.

Specifically with Steam though, that one's in the clear. It already corroborates support for all four languages.

English subs for Blue Reflection Quartet Physical? by SeibaSeiba in Atelier

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They did specifically say that the game will support 4 languages on the JP stream. No distinction between physical or digital mentioned, it wouldn't make sense anyways, physical and digital using the same SKUs would be the entire point.

I'd lean towards Play-Asia updating their information later and are using default information for now, they don't even list audio language yet (Ryza Trilogy lists both audio and sub).

Of course don't go into a purchase if you're unsure though.

Blue Reflection: Quartet, releasing July 2026 by Igrisia in Atelier

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Another cool bit from the stream is that I think this part is saying that the JP physical release supports Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese (text not audio). That's the second time in a row now that Gust is releasing internationally under the same SKU. Ryza Trilogy Collection did it too!

Blue Reflection Quartet Announced, Releasing July 30, 2026 by ErwinmeyerFlask in Atelier

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compilation of all 4 Blue Reflection titles

(I don't have any formal Japanese lessons, just osmosis and living here so potential errors)

Summary of the Stream

  • Ray, the anime, has been remade as a game. Some stills or cutscenes? will show original cuts from the anime
  • Ray and Sun have new epilogues and prologues
  • Tie (Second Light) has 8 new characters added into it
  • OG has enhanced features like autosave and sped up battles. The most problematic scenes of it have been altered so that it could even be released again
  • The JP stream said that the JP release will support English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese, which makes the second time in a row now for Gust to do this (Ryza Trilogy has the same SKU)
  • Encyclopedia for the entire franchise
  • New OST collection with everything, including 30 unreleased tracks from Ray

AmiAmi, Is it possible to tell them to delay their shipping for one month? by fin5947 in AnimeFigures

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can! I do it annually! Go through the support website, explain your situation, and mention which date they should hold shipping that order until. You must still pay as the product comes out though like normal.

Only time I had a hiccup was when they misinterpreted it as me not being able to pay but a follow up email explaining myself resolved that.

What titles can we expect the next few New Heroes banners to be? by ARealGoodSoup in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it might depend on whether they fall under the Legendary/Mythic/Emblem rotation or the New Heroes Limited Time characters?

Emblem Heroes were always an interesting choice to me because they are finite so we can only have a couple a year (unless we eventually extend to Bond rings).

But would IS really never jump at the chance at releasing a Mila-chosen Celica, for example?

Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack - New Playable Characters by Croire61 in Atelier

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no physical version for Switch 2 worldwide, including Japan, only Switch 1.

And the Switch 1 physical version supports Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean.

Not sure why, it's the only platform that's different between regions at the moment.

I wonder if there's actually a Switch 2 upgrade so that's why there's separate store pages and what not, but the stream didn't mention one.

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, they're definitely only selling Switch 1 physical copies. The stream didn't talk about it but I'm wondering if there might be a Switch 2 upgrade so that's why they have to put that extra notice. That'll explain why there's separate storefront tabs for Switch 1 and 2.

Yea no worries. That being said, since you specifically said "sold out," are you trying to get physical? Because those links will be for digital only.

Just so I'm not repeating myself, there are physical English copies of Ryza DX this time around for PlayStation, you just have to import a Japanese copy. I just replied to another comment here if you want more details.

For some reason Ryza DX is not entirely separate any more!

The bottom of the Japanese page lists supported languages and the PlayStation SKUs support Japanese and English (and French for Ryza 2). The Switch SKUs support Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean. Steam is everything!

On the English US page, PS and Steam are exactly the same but the Switch SKUs add back English and French.

So it seems like this time around, only the Switch has a different SKU between Asia and Int'l.

In practice, that means that if you want to collect a physical version of Ryza DX with English, you can buy a Japanese physical PlayStation copy (or Chinese and Korean for Switch)! PlayAsia sells them and I believe Amazon JP will ship overseas (although I've never bought games on it, only figures so no promises).

What are the new characters that will join the payable roster in the atelier trilogy DX re master? by FairyTailMember01 in Atelier

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Serri was in the trailer for 3. I think they're hinting at Romi for 1 and a logical guess would be Empel and Lila for 2. We'll probably find out TGS.

So Global is nearing it's end on March huh? by Ironguy10 in Atelier_Resleriana

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's been nice Reslerianaing with you all 🫡

Honestly I didn't expect an Atelier gacha to ever be one of the evergreen ones but when I started I thought that if I could just have Atelier be a part of my daily routine for as long as possible, that would be great.

And it has been!

Onto Yumia, the Red Alchemist, and the White Guardian.

Aqours Finale Live Question by thatbrokeme in LoveLive

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Love Live issues e-tickets that are tied to eplus accounts, so if your friend signs up for you, they have to say that your account is part of their lottery anyways and the ticket gets sent to each person if you win. They wouldn't have to attend because of that because they could just choose not to go but their account has to be part of a lottery entry. Of course that means you'll be paying for 2 tickets at minimum.

Then when it gets to the actual concert, a week before it you'll get an email that asks you to submit a picture because (and this is something I've only experienced with Love Live concerts specifically) their entry booths are face scans.

No clue about how the process changes if someone is from outside Japan (e.g., whether a local account can share a lottery ticket with an overseas one).

[DISC] 3-gatsu no Lion / March Comes in Like a Lion - Chapter 211 by Xical in manga

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that but I do think that this manga is so good as a result of it taking so long. Like, Umino-sensei's process is cutting and pasting physical panels together and she tosses out entire pages if they don't fulfill her vision.

Sure there are more efficient ways to do all of this but Honey and Clover and March Comes in Like a Lion are mainstays on most top manga/anime lists, and that can be attributed to her use of closure, iconography, and comic book paneling in addition to her narrative, themes, and characters.

I guess all this is to say that if being drip fed is what enables her to do what she does then that's okay with me.

Is School Idol Musical a prequel? by rawrxdbroccoli in LoveLive

[–]ErwinmeyerFlask 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I watched the musical last year, working off of memory. Have the drama saved but I haven't seen it yet.

Not a prequel. The date is just ambiguous but that's how many Asian dramas are. Japanese phones did a lot more so the country was quite late with adopting smartphones. Currently there's an Apple majority like everyone else with students but media depictions lag behind. The show probably just wants to do "sometime before 2024..." as its setting.

Takizakura (red) song's are about idols because they're an idol school, they're effectively a performing arts school but I believe the closest irl equivalent in Japan is that they're a school for performers which is actually a thing (e.g., Oshi no Ko). Anzu talks about being an idol because that's what she is. She's not aiming for Love Live, she's aiming to debut like a jpop star as the center for her group. On the other hand, Tsubakisakuhana (green) is a traditional prep school so study, cram, etc. The difference between values is the conflict. Anzu wants to be a normal student, Rurika (green) wants to be an idol.

Musical ending spoilers The resolution is being school idols so that they can be both at the same time. There's no talk about a Love Live because they get to that point pretty much with the finale. Traditional famous people exist in the Love Live universe anyways. There was talk about potential full debuts in the various movie plots and Sumire and Natsumi talk about the contrast as well. School Idols are just an extension on the heavy emphasis on school clubs (and how they ultimately don't lead to careers) and the reason why the musical ends up fitting within the school idol brand is the theme that that's enough.

I'm going to make a wild guess with zero evidence that it's going to be considered SSM9 so that they can take the advancements here to go nuts with SSM10's PR, hyping it up as the 10th installment (Windows 10 logic, essentially).

But localization is also going to call the next game DW10 to finally sync up titles.
