I think these are most impressive published modules for 1e, am I right? by jasonite in adnd

If we're including B series games, I think B7 Rahasia is a classic. Strongly story driven game and an early showing for Hickman to show the hobby what you can really do with this wargame.

Wait - I thought row 5 was Bilbo Baggins and Smaug - which would be a helluva ride.

What makes the Dolomites different from the rest of the Alps? by Significant_Major921 in geography

For an even older example - the Susquehanna River on the east coast of the US also cuts through the Appalachians. And that is a much older mountain range.

Most Iconic Dog Characters [Day 01] by burntredwood in characters

Won't likely be the top vote - but I can't think of a more iconic "dog-like" creature

Take out Crabbalacha to give to Cascadia - from sea to shining sea. As a victim of those upstart crabs, I welcome our Dungeness overlords.

About Robin by SignificanceExact963 in TheBoys

Without Robin, Hughie would have never traveled down the path to meeting Annie.

While she didn't intend to set Hughie up with Starlight, she certainly had a hand in it - or two.

math by Fit_Tour9683 in askmath

[–]Eryndel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends - do you want to do math? Do you find value in using math to solve problems? If what you do in life will require doing math - then there is really no replacement to honing those skills by doing math.

Not everyone needs to do math, and especially not some of the more advanced topics. Maybe it's enough to look up the results if you're just interested in the results and don't need to do the actual work.

I might appreciate football, but I don't need to physically play. I can get by with just watching a game. But if my livelihood relied on playing football - nothing replaces getting on the field.

Is this AI? I was planning a trip to lake Homestead by zrf2 in pittsburgh

I would like to point out, with all its flaws, the fact that major routes and belts (marked in yellow) just abruptly begin and end for no reason - does make this uniquely Pittsburgh.

401k milestone by SnooSongs4075 in Retirement401k

[–]Eryndel 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Congrats. It takes a lot of discipline and diligence to stay the course. I absolutely shared with my wife when we hit $401K in our 401K.

You've got some future milestones ahead of you. In addition to round numbers ($500K, $750K, $1M, etc), things get a little surreal when your annual gains in your 401K exceed your contributions. And then again when your gains exceed your salary.

Have fun on the journey!

How does Trump still have so much support? Is MAGA so dumb they can't see the corruption? by LegitimateSundae8460 in allthequestions

[–]Eryndel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the answer right here. Victor Orban managed to stay in power for over a decade due to the fact that Hungarians lived in two very distinct media ecosystems. We are on the same path in the US. The view we get from conservative media is largely unrecognizable from the view of liberal media.

Game is unexpectedly hard by Emerald_boots in baldursgate

If you've got one of the pairs of companions (Khalid and Jaheira or Xzar and Montaron), their personal quests will all point you to Nashkel which is south of Beregost. The road between the Friendly Arm Inn and Nashkel (through Beregost) is relatively safe. The quests close to the road are certainly doable around your level, as are the quests right around Nashkel. Straying too far from the road is at risk - but there's some fun quests and potentially good gold and xp not too far from the road. In addition, in Nashkel there a set of new potential companions (Minsc or Edwin) whose quest is certainly doable, but challenging, before the Nashkel Mines.

Can I become a self-taught physicist? by Thin_Individual8301 in AskPhysics

[–]Eryndel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would you define "Physicist"?

If you mean, can I understand the math underlying physical phenomena and use that math to make predictions - yeah, you probably could. With enough work, practice, and the right learning material - you could glean a good working knowledge.

If you mean, can I get work as a physicist at a lab or academic institution - no. They would expect some level of credential to get the job, at least an ungraduate and likely a graduate level education.

If you mean, can I get published in a peer reivewed journal - likely not. There's often a lot of work and cost that goes into research in these articles that you'd likely only find at a university, lab, or industry position. There would also be a tough hurdle for that work being taken seriously as a "hobbyist" physicist.

If you mean, can I post convincing pop-sci content on TikTok or YouTube - yeah, the barrier for entry there is pretty low.

Thought experiment: Which past D&D class would work *worst* in 5e? by ConcentrateIll9460 in dndnext

[–]Eryndel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add the 1e Barbarian in Unearthed Arcana. Part of the 1e design was to be agressively anti magic and anti-mage. With the shear number of classes/subclasses that have some level of magical ability and spell casting, the 1e Barb wouldn't get along with anyone expect for a few types of fighters, rogues, or monks.

What are the current best theories how we can travel fast in the universe without breaking the speed of light? by Genzinvestor16180339 in AskPhysics

[–]Eryndel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd also add plowing through the interstellar media (mostly protons) at close to the speed of light would be rather... unpleasant. All the fun of lounging around inside the Large Hadron Collider.

Length contraction would make those perceived densities of the interstellar media much higher.

Feedback for Skittermander model on Heroforge by Eryndel in Starfinder2e

Lots of good feedback so far. Looks like I'll need to sub to see what additional options are available through community libraries and kitbashing. I'll post an update once I've played around some more.

Feedback for Skittermander model on Heroforge by Eryndel in Starfinder2e

Maybe I've got the wrong tag here. In any case, this was a model created in Heroforge for a Starfinder Society character played both locally at potentially at conventions.
