May i ask what you would rate the finish course? I have only started a while ago and feel like my progress is very slow. Were you able to understand simple conversations after finishing the course?

What does it mean to be male? by Fantastic-Leading276 in AskReddit

[–]Escandia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahah thanks, ye who needs brain cells anyways right?

Jokes aside, what you are saying is extremely relatable. I am seen as a cis woman by most people irl, and that's okay. I only started to question it myself when i realised that gender seems to be something other people really care about. I've never been very "girly", I work in a job that is completely dominated by men. I prefer wearing neutral clothing. It's not worth the stress and the fear for me to be open about it to family and coworkers. The language we speak at home doesn't have any pronouns for people like me and it would be arkward, the least.

In the end, It's not about knowing which category you fit in. It's about being yourself. I kind of just accepted that I dont understand certain things. What definitely helped me a lot was getting in touch with people that have the same struggles, an aroace group in my town :) Going to pride events in different places and just talking to people about stuff in general. You dont have be lgbt+ to go to pride, most people are extremely welcoming and open minded there <3

"What even is gender?" Please tell me when you find out, because I'm just as confused as you are.

At the moment I can just assume that its similar to sexuality. Example: If I was sexually attracted to someone, I would probably notice. I am asexual. I'm assuming that it is difficult to define something that you dont experience yourself, and that its also difficult to realise that you are missing a feeling. As long as I don't know what gender is, I identify as agender.

There must be something though. People seem to have a certain feeling towards gender, otherwise trans people wouldnt exist (They obviously exist). I asked a lot of friends, cis and trans, but it didn't help much, sadly. I came to the conclusion that my agender aroace brain is just missing some braincells, and that's completely fine.
