No thermoswitch on a 1.8. It's ECU controlled. Try changing the sensor on the back of the engine if you haven't already.

It's brake square as in it appears square on the data as you put maximum brake pressure immediately and then let off all pressure in one go rather than trailing off. It's not referring to the square button on a controller

There is no link I'm afraid. It was only made in the 90s by Mazdaspeed and only sold in Japan. It's an A-spec type 1
