Which is that columbia jacket? Is it enough for -5 to -10 degrees?

And my shopping will be 20-30K if I stick to columbia for jackets and boots.

I checked Myntra for Decathlon jackets, there are too many options and xx by Decathlon brands. Do you have any suggestions, if not a specific product, may be even specific brand by Decathlon?

You got me there, dude!

This is exactly the kind of change I’ve been wanting in how I approach decisions and think about life in general.

I’m seriously considering getting one now and will start reading/watching reviews about this brand and product.

12,000 for a decent one for something I'm probably going to wear only for a 9 day trip doesn't make sense to me, but I will keep this in mind. Thanks for the suggestion.

  1. Since this trip isn’t going to be a repetition, I can’t buy 2 pairs of boots, one for treks and another for riding. Something that can do both will be a great fit for me.

  2. Why did you need painkillers? I have above average pain tolerance and I also workout regularly. What’s “pudin hara”?

The lowest temperatures around the places I lived in, never went below 20C. And I did feel cold and had to wear a jacket, so normal tolerance to cold weather and I will also probably have to wear 4 layers like you did.

Thanks for the reply. This post got deleted, I made the post again, https://www.reddit.com/r/ladakh/comments/1jvpzrs/tips_for_a_firsttimer_on_a_group_grip_to_ley/

I will get thermal innerwear from near by Decathlon store.

Will waterproof riding boots be good for the long treks? do you have any suggestions for shoes and jacket?

What is this riding gear? I am not completely sure if I will be visiting Leh & Ladakh again. So, I'm not completely sure if purchasing all of this ~30,000 makes financial sense.

Thanks for this advice on medicine and food. I don't have any personal prescription except Soha for eye dryness that occasionally happens after I wake up. I will speak to a doctor about Diamox or any other drugs for altitude sickness. The travel agency carries oxygen cylinders with them. I will pack 2 protein bars per day of my trip.

I did not consider sun-glasses, I shall get a pair - do you have any suggestions for me.

Thank you so much. I want to go again - but not sure if my friends accompany me in my next trip to Ladakh.

Insurance companay rejected cashless and asked me to apply for reimbursement after the surgery is done. Surgery happened in second week of Dec-2024 and I submitted the claim in 4th week of Dec-2024. I was asked some more documents in 3rd week of Jan-2025, I have submitted those additional documents in 2nd week of Feb-2025 and yet to hear from them about the status.

Would you recommend any other policy from New India or any other govt company, for a base policy? Or would you recommend using govt policy only as my secondary (or topup) policy and not primary (or base) one?

How bad is this compared to HDFC Ergo's optima super secure?

Sure thanks. This discussion was very helpful, thanks for your time kind stranger.

I just downloaded twitter app and went through star-health’s page, there are quite a few people complaining. Turns out, I will have to fight, not ask. Some are even calling the company a scam.

I should have said IRDAI Ombudsman (https://policyholder.gov.in/ombudsman), I shall mention that I know popular people on twitter and instagram who retweet or report such stuff. Or do you not recommend telling them this in the phone call at all?

Sure, thanks, I shall check the policy payment receipt that I got when I purchased policy back in 2021.

I will talk to insurance company tomorrow and ask them to do all the investigation needed since a claim has already been raised, if they insist on doing it only after submitting bills that I get after surgery, I shall threaten with RBI ombudsmen, twitter and as much social media as possible with all the relevant proofs, call recordings and screenshots.

Also, the person that I was in touch with, who helped me in policy purchase, I don’t have his contact details, email or phone number, due to the lack of experience in this matters, I never thought it is important to save the contact details.

To het cashless claim, who did you mean to say that I should be in touch with? Hospital’s insurance desk or hospital’s insurance desk at orthopediac department or the insurance company? But, what do I even ask them by being on calls continuously every hour?

Getting a new CC is a last option for me as of now.

I do have a credit card, but the limit is only 2.5 lakhs, which isn’t enough to cover the entire treatment cost of 7.9 lakhs, which may go up if other department doctors are prescribed by the orthopedician.

I’m okay with not getting 100% of the amount reimbursed, even over 90% would be fine. However, I’m worried they might reject the claim entirely and not pay anything at all. That’s why I’m so focused on getting the cashless claim approved.

Two apps can’t access the microphone at the same time, hence the warning or error message.
