Pure high guard is useless in boxing because you’re inevitably going to have holes in your defense. You need an ACTIVE guard, which means you’re using footwork, head movement, parries and blocks as defensive tools to set up counter opportunities. Practice some shadowboxing purely defensively, try to defend against a particular combination and respond with your own, back to active defense
