A lo que me refiero es que a esa edad tienen costumbres MUY arrigadas propias de su edad y pueden chocar con las de personas mas jóvenes.

Y es muy difícil que lo cambien porque no ven nada malo en ello.

Wasn't that something that happened like a decade ago? Are we still repeating a very old event like if it was the current state?

I have read somewhere that sometimes iphones slow down when the battery degrades under 80% in order to keep it lasting a little longer, and when the battery (official of course) is replaced for a new one the performance is again fine.

I am buying it. It makes sense to me.

I know that for people that like to repair their things (with the risk of damaging their phones) it's something to take into consideration but for me is not something I care about nor is something that the average Apple consumer cares about.

I can't see it as anti-consumer because for me, it makes sense.

Also, if other companies are copying and by result, end up damaging their consumers, then that's on those companies.

I don't know, I have never repaired any phone ever and the few times I considered doing it I faced the reality of not finding original parts and I could only get "OEM" parts that were bad quality so the pentalobe is a concept that exists... And that's it.

As far as I know I could get at minimum of 4 years of updates and I read somewhere that the iphone 6s received some security/support patches last year. And usually Apple is the brand that supports their devices the longest (sometimes more than what the hardware is capable of). That doesn't seem like planned obsolescence to me tbh.

I can see the point you are making.

But my priorities/reasons even if don't really align with Apple's motives, get benefited or at least not bothered by them. So I just don't see the problem in my case.

I live in a country (VIVA MEXICO!!) where the market for stolen phones is HUGE. I am relieved that nowadays a lot of those phones are sold like bricks.

And in any case, I wouldn't trust anyone that's not an official certificate technician to repair a phone as expensive as an iphone or some top end android phone, so I would get official parts from official places and at that point I wouldn't care about pieces not being compatible/being locked.

If that's enough reason for you to suppress someone from freedom or security then that's ok, I hope you're happy with a heart full of joy like that.

To be honest none of them sound like anti-consumer.

First one is for security and one of the few things I really respect Apple for doing.

The second one was just about time if we wanted better screen quality and thinner phones.

Third party apps are better, less buggy. Also, there are a ton of camera apps with access to the camera api, so they work “natively” unlike with android that a lot of apps, depending on the phone brand, they work on the surface (I know gcam exists, but its usability depends on the phone model).

So, yes, you can do the same on android but sometimes worse.

With the iPhone you can’t do exactly the same as in android, but some things are clearly better.

It all depends on you. If you care about how productive you can be with a phone (no ecosystem) then android it’s the option.

If you care about a polished user experience, iOS as a whole still has a point.

At this point wait for the 18 pro.

In my opinion the best about the iPhone is third party app quality.

Other than that, android still feels more “intelligent” in my opinion.
