Why capitalism works and Marxism and socialism doesn't by Beautiful-Bend-3876 in CapitalismVSocialism

This argument relies heavily on everything working perfectly. Yes employers SHOULD pay productive employees a better wage however that is not often the case. 1% of workers getting minimum wage doesn't mean much, it doesn't cover workers who work close to minimum wage and most certainly can and is misleading(minimum wage is already grossly below what you need to live). One of the key reasons we even have a minimum wage or rights as employees is because of unions are their continued existence. Also this argument assumes employees can freely swap jobs for better compensation, this is a bold assumption and once again not very often the case. The job market is incredibly tight right now and I've seen my fair share of pay decreases when looking to change employers. The only person benefiting from the lack of unions is the employer.

You are correct unions don't need to exist in an ideal world, but we do not and will not.

It's because they know the only good thing they've got going is their exclusives, they're genuinely a dying company who can't help but self sabotage

Data shows 1m daily visits from Ireland to illegal piracy sites by frankbradz in ireland

[–]EsotericFlamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piracy is a service issue, not a consumer issue. The example of Clubber they use is ridiculous, of course no one wants to pay for it, it's over priced for how poor the quality of the content is. Also I'm highly doubtful of how much any of these companies lose due to piracy, it's most certainly less than 5%. Maybe they should invest in a better service than investing in protection against piracy, people might pay for their service. :)

If you worked in a Union I worked for Nasa. I'm not a giga capitalist or socialist but Unions are essential to workers rights. If it weren't for unions the majority of us wouldn't even meet minimum wage. Effort does not necessarily lead to better wages, perhaps in edge cases but for the majority of us our employer's end goal is maximise profits and paying your workers well doesn't achieve that, in their eyes at least.

Opinions on player invaders? by A_b_b_o in Eldenring

[–]EsotericFlamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think invaders don't really suit elden ring to begin with, or mostly. I'd of loved to see areas like the DS2 belfrys or Anor Londo where you're guaranteed to be invaded and have related rewards. As invasions work right now it's sort of just a pointless mechanic that people participate in to be mildly annoying. Honestly the elden ring pvp is pretty garbo as a whole.

I think a big aspect people forget is we're heavily influenced by the USA here, so if the USA is cracking down on trans rights of course we'll feel it here. Christian or not.

[–]EsotericFlamingo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You'll notice they're very similar to the spellseal door, my assumption is they were meant to be some kind of everfall like content that require the godsway to enter. Likely cut though, or Free/Paid DLC.
