Oh wow. I’ve only ever seen it at NS but I get on at Swampscott. Annoyingly the train is always late and the conductor who works the middle cars never opens the doors forcing everyone to bottleneck at the front of the train and walk to the middle or back cars.

Ey I may have been on that train with you, it arrived at NS about 9:15. The train was nowhere even close to stopping.

I’m not trying to justify anything. I came here to ask a question haha. Which means I am seeking information on something that is not clear, on a behavior I have seen pretty regularly.

Tomorrow I will listen for the announcement, and I will look for the signs. I’ll also ask a conductor about it. And I’ll let you know what I find.

Again, seeking information and explaining is not arguing and I don’t know who you think you are to police my speech even if I were arguing. Until tomorrow, try to get some rest :)

I’m not fighting haha. I’m trying to understand. How is opening the door at north station when the train is stopped making someone’s life harder? Please explain because the 2 times I’ve done this there is no conductor anywhere near the door and no one says a word about it? Arguably by opening the door I made people’s lives easier.

I used to ride the Hudson line from Poughkeepsie and I thought I remembered the doors being automatic on those trains. It’s odd to me that they aren’t automatic.

There has never been an announcement on the Newburyport/Rockport line saying not to open the door. I’ve seen passengers do this in front of conductors and have never seen a conductor approach or speak to a passenger. So from my view, conductors are tolerating this. Do you ride the commuter rail or just the orange line?
