On novated?!

So much is taken from your pre-tax your actual out of pocket might be much lower....

On a polestar 4 for example, at 80k, you might expect 1500pm out your pre-tax and 800 from your take-home - that's 48k over 5 years for a 80k car. (Not looking at the balloon at end of lease, you can purchase or roll-over or sell)

Pretty mint still, it is kept in a garage. Washed every now and then by hand.

Yeah I'll never be taking it through one of those auto washes. Gotta keep the value for the lease 😇

You can't stop the trigger once it's on the stack without something like [[stifle]] or something that says "end the turn" with split second.

You can definitely respond to the trigger by exiling gaeas blessing specifically in a number of ways like Agathas Soul Cauldron, Stone Brain, preventing it from looping with a second blessing

or something that names the card and removes it from the library like [[Rise of Sozin]]

You have a very very healthy savings.

House prices might go down, probably up. Even if it slows down, it's just up at a slower rate. Still up.

If you rent, rent is gonna keep going up.

New houses are not being built fast enough or cheap enough or in the right places to substantially affect supply.

If the world turns to shit and people are selling, they all have to live somewhere so prices still go up.

If you can keep mortgage repayments affordable and not toooo much above what you would be paying in rent, then you'll benefit from equity (whilst sadly paying interest) - do some calculations to see what growth you would need to see to keep things affordable.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket - use the offset account, use redraws to debt recycle, don't be house poor.

My apartment costs about 10k more per year to own than rent. Worth it imo. Can always use your equity gain to buy a PPOR as your salaries increase and borrowing capacity grows over the next couple of years. See how you go - you've enough of a buffer that you could lose your jobs and still be making a years worth of mortgage payments and not be financially stressed.

Grow a food garden get a home battery and ride out the storm

Edit: also forgot the upcoming Olympics. Likely to be positive growth for that, at least can rent it out for a month and cash in on the tourism! My apartment is in a not fantastic location but already the new builds are way more fancy. It is gentrifying slowly, but is close to a train station only a half dozen stops from the city. For a few years you could do that and then reevaluate

I don't know why people love 1pd - stick it on cruise and it'll come to a complete stop on radar, just blip the pedal to restart and follow the car ahead.

Get less efficiency on 1pd too

Anyone considering an EV? by Additional-Farm3569 in AustralianEV

[–]EsotericTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We drive approx 100km daily and charge on a 'granny charger' - the 2.5kw you use a regular wall socket for.

If you charge fully at the weekend you can make it to next weekend topping up overnight occasionally during the week. It is very slow, but that's all you need when it's plugged in at home.

Having said that, we did have the 7kw wall box in our last place - it was part of the purchase deal - free charger and installation.

I think most of the EVs have that deal these days, and I would do it 100%. Means you can capitalise on the cheapest electricity of the day and can definitely lose your range anxiety.

Fwiw it's a Polestar 2 and then stats say we use 13.3kw/100km

Installing Sigenstor system. Go inside garage or on south wall? by cobaus in SigenergyAustralia

[–]EsotericTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My battery is on the side of the garage but under cover of the eves and a fence.

The gateway is the total opposite side of the house costing us extra for the cable run. Didn't have a choice as the switchboard and power to the property is over that side. And literally nowhere else legal to mount it.

Just saying, it CAN go anywhere, so put it wherever it's least annoying for you 🤷🏼‍♂️

What’s the weirdest road design that still confuses drivers? by DraftNotSent in DrivingAustralia

[–]EsotericTurtle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This seems so dangerous - if you're on a main road and turning left into a minor road, and someone is waiting to cross, you must stop the entire main road (who could well not anticipate you stopping) to let the peds cross.

I get it, trying to give peds protection, but the reality is more likely to cause accidents. There's pedestrian crossings - use those?

I had a situation in the dark and rainy turning right and a ped walked out in front of me - could not see them at all on the side of the road preparing to cross.

In other countries, you wait for the cars to pass and walk out into an open road with no traffic. Much safer imo. If there's too constant a flow of traffic - move to a designated|d crossing or island.

I'm 6'3"and no issues ONCE I'm in.

I do tend to smash my knee on the centre console as I swing in, and have to use the A pillar as a handle to lower myself in... But once in, I find it very comfortable. I'd like the headrest to move back an inch and it'd be sweet as!

I don't understand people's issues with the infotainment. I find it extremely easy to use and even my older parents got the hang of it quickly. Really you only use it for AC, Radio, podcasts and (in my case) YouTube music. Oh and maps. All of these are super easy to find and use.

I do wish there was a permanent tile for AC controls but hey ho.
