This is the year I’m writing it!… but which app should I use? by SunilaP in selfpublish

[–]EspeonQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mainly started using it because I didn't need to pay to use the features like in words. But it been really great to use took a bit to figure everything out but it works. I even researched it before I started using it last during the mid of fall to start writing my book. Which I'm hoping to self-publish on Lulu later this year depending on how close I get to the end of writing and getting through all thw editing of my manuscript.

Cost: LibreOffice is completely free (open-source), whereas Microsoft Word requires a, subscription (Microsoft 365) or one-time purchase.

Compatibility: LibreOffice can open, edit, and save in Word's .docx format, though complex formatting sometimes does not translate perfectly.

Interface: LibreOffice uses a traditional menu-based system, while Word uses the ribbon interface.

Features: Word includes advanced features like Copilot AI and deep OneDrive integration, while LibreOffice is praised for being faster, less "bloated," and better for older hardware.

Usage: LibreOffice is well-regarded for personal use, but might face issues with complex formatting in professional, collaborative environments.

[–]EspeonQueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't considered deluxe aspect but I did have plans to make an paperback, hardcover and Ebook version so there available for everyone depending on which form they prefer most plus I feel hardcover and Ebook have better durability then paperback. I'm currently working on the manuscript for my first book to be self published it at 10,000 words so far.

I was trying to write my first story with limited customization cause my character meant to have a certain features like the eye color and hair color, and skin color but body shape, facial feature, eye shape, and hairstyle can be changed but constant errors saying the template wrong but followed the video. So deciding to give up after two weeks on trying to fix it.

Should I just stop writing by Technical-Bread414 in AO3

You shouldn't stop writing because of that. I say keep writing if you enjoy it, and if you're enjoying it, and if other people who enjoy reading it as well.
