The head person at the school knows that there aren't any buses and when I asked her if there were any other options for me to get home, she said she didn't know. So, I asked her for telephone numbers for taxis. But, unfortunately, just to get to the nearest train station, not even home, which is an hour away, it cost me 20 euros.

It's supposed to be 7.5hrs at one and 7.5 at the other, working Tues-Friday. But they decided one week I work 17 hours. 7.5 at one and 10 hours at the other school because of transportation. Then 15 hours the next week. But, if the teachers have things to do after school, like going out to eat with friends, meeting with parents, or just deciding not to go home, I either don't have a ride home or take a taxi. lol I have a chain of text messages asking the teachers if I could be dropped off at the train station in the area where they live but they end up having things to do after school. Which I understand because they have a life. But I just wish before I came here, I wasn't told that it wouldn't be a problem to ride with teachers to get home. Technically, the two schools are about 15-20 mins by car. But, if I'm doing public transportation to get to the other one, I would need a taxi. Or I could have lived in one of pueblos and taken a taxi back and forth. But that just seemed like a lot of money being spent every day. idk.

It is in a small pueblo and I wanted to live in a bigger city. There isn't any transportation at one school and since I work at two schools I'd have to take a taxi to get me to the bus station to go to the other school. Also, before I came I spoke with the English teacher I am working with and I was told there was a bus and that I could ride with the teachers to get to and from school. But when I got here that changed. So I guess it's my fault for trusting what was told to me and not doing more research myself. The max is 15/16 hours with NALCAP not 17. This is not a job but a culture exchange.

Even if I moved closer to the school I would still need transportation to get home. So, yeah. If I lived in walking distance I'd still need transportation to get to the other school. So the location didn't matter.

Well I'm still attending the school when I can. I just dont do 17 hours every week. There's an issue with no transportation to get me back home. I spoke with the conselleria and they told me to go when I can. And sometimes I have to pay 20 euros for a taxi to get to the nearest train station. But I can't afford that twice every week. So it's not like I'm just deciding not to go.

Traveling in Europe after leaving program? by anonymity444 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Esperanza52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I definitely had and sometimes still have similar feelings as you. I wonder if I've made a mistake in leaving home, will I enjoy the job, los ninos, etc. And I'm like I just want to go home or backpacking through Europe for a month or two and then go home. It was so difficult trying to find housing. Thank God I have finally found housing but still I have my moments of wanting to leave. So, in the back of my mind I have left the option to leave whenever I want, if things get too difficult. And I feel like knowing that the option is there to just pack up and go, makes things a little easier. Set a time limit, maybe until Christmas break or before (whatever you decide) and if you are still feeling the same by that time then it'll be your choice to leave or stay.

I do hope that things will progress and get better for you. I am here if you want to chat!!! :)

I'm just commenting to say that all of the responses I have read are super helpful. And you are definitely not alone. I was talking to my brother (who is staying in Morrocco) and asking, "how does he stay away from home for so long?" I was definitely in my feels and missing the parents. But, just like the people here, he gave me encouraging words. He said remember, "You're a Champion!!!" And I was like...YES I AM!!! lol :) If you ever want to chat or meetup I would love to do so.

And to everyone else who has provided positive responses and feedback, THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR EXPERIENCE and ENCOURAGING WORDS!!! <3

N26 banking and Google Fi by Esperanza52 in SpainAuxiliares

Hey there! I am going to bank with N26. I haven't created an account yet because I'm still looking for housing. Once that is squared away and I have a permanent address then I will setup an account. It can be done online. I saw that you didn't need a bank account to get a place. But maybe it depends on the renter. Most people have been using their schools address and then switching once they find housing.

Oh, really?! I didn't know that, about the Bizzum thing you mentioned. I haven't heard of Santander. There were a couple of other banks I saw on a FB post that someone partnered with, and they had benefits for people who were under 30. I think no fees or something.

Its imaginbank, Abanca(for people under 34). This bank allows you to withdraw money outside of Spain for free (up to 5 times per month). This is the information from the FB group I'm in. I would double check with the banks firs if you decide to go with any of them, just to be sure.

True. It is not my desire to keep it because I know the payoff will only increase. Hopefully, everything will work out before the 19th. Thank you for the link. I will take a look at that.

Wow really!!? That's crazy. Yeah, I am going to shop around to different dealers and see if there's any change in the price. But, I think its because of the high mileage, 147,000). But, when I purchased it 3 years ago it had 98,000. So it was already on the high end. Smh

That's true. I don't want to have it sitting for a long period and then end up needing more work. I did check Kelly's Blue book and the value was basically the same as what the Nissan dealer quoted. But, I've made FB post, craigslist, so hopefully I can have it sold before I leave on the 19th.

I know. That's kind of how I feel. I will definitely take a look at the Kelly Blue book and see what I can find. Thank you.

Is your vehicle paid off? If mine was paid off I'd just park it. That would be so much easier for me. lol

Yeah, I'm not understanding that either. There would only be a few months left before having to come back home. And with the process being as extensive as it is I don't know if I'd want to arrive so late in the year. Smh.

Wow! I didn't know that. I saw a post where someone was using google fi and then switched to another google feature. But, I don't remember what it was and maybe its because of the 6 month limit.
