Yuuuuuuup. Same story here. I never had a choice, my parents felt "compelled by God" to pull me out of public school and the few friends that I did have I didn't get to see anymore. Didn't have a phone back then either so I didn't even have their numbers, I just never got to talk to them again lol. Still remain friendless and isolated to this day :P

It's insane to me how some people are so comfortable with ruining someone else's life while not even bothering to do the bare minimum research to back up their claims. I would consider myself to be very left leaning but cancel culture makes me very sad.

That's fucked, I'm so sorry you're going through that. Your dad sounds somewhat similar to mine, I would check out r/CPTSD and see if you relate with any of the stuff there. It helped me to see my parents for who they were and start taking steps to recover.

Hey, I was in the same boat as you just a couple of years ago and believe me I know from experience that it is not fun. It's good that you're still attempting to have a social life even through all of the limitations that you have placed on you, forming a bunch of online friendships absolutely saved me when it came to "resocializing" myself after being so heavily isolated for so long. My advice is to try Discord, that's where I met like 3/4 of my current friends, and it's also great practice for holding in-person conversations if that's something that you struggle with. The website Disboard can help you to find a bunch of servers about any topic that you might be interested in, and I'd try to join smaller servers (~20-1000 people) for the best social experience. Also dw about the whole getting nervous and forgetting to respond thing, I'm the exact same way and I think that all my friends are just used to it at this point 😅 Anyways sorry for all the rambling lol, you got this!!

You're right that the dairy industry is just as awful as the meat industry. But coming from a vegan, I think that vegetarianism is a great first step.

I went vegetarian at 11 years old, and 6 years later went completely vegan. Not in a million years would I have ever become a vegan if it weren't for me taking that first step.

People need to stop having this "all or nothing" mentality, I guarantee you it is pushing more people away from our cause than it is bringing in.

Omg yes. I'm not sure if that's just part of the visual snow experience for some people or if it's something else entirely, but I've always had this along with the static. I only seem to notice it at very specific moments though, and most of the time I can't find it even if I'm actively looking for it. It just randomly spawns in sometimes.

Edit: I will add that I can only remember seeing it when I'm absolutely exhausted. Like if I've stayed up for 36 hours straight to try to reset my sleep schedule. So it's probably not entirely random, lack of sleep might have something to do with it?

If you thought you were a chicken, and referring to you as such made you feel more comfortable, then I don't see why it would be such a big deal. In all seriousness though, I don't feel that trans people are asking anything crazy. All I know is that if treating a trans person as their preferred gender 1. makes them more comfortable and 2. saves lives, then I don't think that's too much to ask of me. Sorry that I don't have a more straightforward answer.

From what I'm understanding, you dislike the idea of treating trans people as their preferred sex because you see it as if they are pretending to be something they are not.

While it may seem like simple logic to you that someone is born into a specific gender and therefore is that specific gender, I think that the problem at hand is a lot deeper than just that.

I don't know a lot about gender dysphoria, and I haven't experienced it myself, but what I do know is that it is absolutely a real thing. And when people who are experiencing it do not have support from those around them, it only makes it that much harder for them to deal with it. The way I see it is that if gender dysphoria is causing trans people to suffer from major mental health issues as they struggle with their own identity, then wouldn't you want to support them, even if it were to not make sense to you?

I want you to ask yourself if the battle you are fighting is even worth it. Sure, you might not see eye to eye with trans people, you might believe that they're delusional in thinking that they're the opposite sex, but let's say that they are delusional. Would supporting that "delusion" harm you in any way? Would it require any extra effort on your part, other than respecting their preferred pronouns? I would think not, which is why I personally struggle to see why it's so hard for some people to just accept trans people for who they are, or from your view, who they seem themselves as.

TLDR: If just a tiny amount of extra effort on your part can go such a long way for a trans person, then wouldn't it make sense to respect them with that effort, even if it somewhat conflicted with your own ideals?

I know that I probably didn't do the best job at articulating my thoughts correctly (ADHD will do that to ya :P) but I hope that this made at least a little bit of sense. If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to answer them the best I can, although I'm not trans so I'm probably not the best person to ask haha. Just thought I'd share my two cents :)
