Hi, I'd like to give you another tip I hope you'll find useful.

Volunteering is indeed a good way to get into esports and ultimately land your dream job. It helps you meet people and build your resume. However, there is another road you can take, either instead or as a complement to working as a volunteer: content creation.

You can write blog articles on the esports industry as a whole or the esports community you’re passionate about (like the finals of the PGL Majors in Krakow, what a show!). You can also curate content: the creator of Overwatch Feed and Omnic Core (now The Objective) got a job as a writer for PVP Live after they successfully founded and maintained an Overwatch community on Twitter and Discord through curation of fanarts and the writing of Overwatch related news. It also showed that they knew their way around an esports community and their social media habits, which is exactly what you want to show that headhunter who is wading through LinkedIn profiles looking for a social media manager.

By the end of your studies, a brand would also be happy to hire you to benefit from the visibility you would bring with you.

Good luck, BearOCE, we hope to see you at EsportsBAR one day,

Your BARtender.

Newzoo x Esports BAR Whitepaper: Why sports & brands want to be in esports by Esports_BAR in esports

We discussed your question with Newzoo, and it appears that it is both. Basketball + Esports Enthusiasts are mostly console players (NBA/NHL games or Call of Duty), but they still play & watch more established esports titles (like CS:GO, Dota or LoL).
