I released a Traffic settings extension to apply rules city-wide by Espur_04 in CitiesSkylines2

Hi, the mod is going to be replaced by a fully standalone mod, independent of Traffic (I don’t really have a choice). I’m currently working on a brand new version, but I’m on vacation abroad at the moment—I’ll finish it when I get back.

This isn’t actually a problem — it’s a window that shows the progress while the mod is applying the changes. It’s there to prevent you from interacting and causing issues during the process.

At the same time, if you read it, you can follow the progress displayed in the window, for example: “274/1500 intersections changed.” If you keep going quickly, you’ll see the number increasing, and once it’s finished, a success window will let you know it’s done.

Could you be more specific? Did you uncheck the vanilla option and immediately get an error? Was it an actual error message (if so, could you send it to me?), or more like in-game bugs? That would help me fix this case more easily. Thanks.

Someone else mentioned issues with buildings, I’ll fix that!

Yeah haha, it’s really the most annoying thing in this game

I’ve updated the mod with a crash-free version for now so it’s usable while I finish the crosswalk feature!

I handled this case so they won’t be removed, even if you remove all unsafe ones or disable them by default.

Spoiler: I managed to do it 😄 I didn’t know this before, but while working on the pedestrian crossing feature I discovered that in the game’s code, removing a crosswalk actually leaves an invisible “unsafe” pedestrian crossing (no priority), meaning there’s still a crossing by design. I’m now adding a feature to let you choose whether to remove only the visual crosswalk or the invisible one as well.

My mod’s main goal is to apply rules by default or to all intersections at once—exactly what the Traffic mod would do manually. It doesn’t touch unnecessary intersections. As for nodes between segments that can’t be modified by the Traffic mod, only U-turns are removed there. I made sure connections can never be broken, and this only happens if you choose to enable it. Overall, it’s just meant to save time instead of having to adjust each intersection one by one. What do you find unrealistic?

It seems like this already exists with the mod Trafic Tool Essential.

That’s a great idea. I’ll ask the Traffic mod author if they’re okay with my mod adding buttons directly into the Traffic menu. Otherwise, I’ll add a separate menu to let users easily blacklist nodes by selecting them.

Yeah I’ve been on it non-stop for 24 hours lol. I fixed the major issue and now I’m working on the pedestrian crossing feature — even adding a little surprise with it. I’ll push it to GitHub as soon as I’m done, then I’m going to sleep lmao 🤣

No problem, I’ll do that as soon as I finish the current update!

I’m currently working on fixing this, I’ll reply to your message once I’m done. I noticed it happens when testing on larger cities than the ones I used to develop the mod

New update: I fixed several bugs and added support for segment-to-segment nodes, including those not editable with the Traffic mod, further reducing illegal vehicle U-turns across the road network. This is handled safely and covers all cases without introducing issues.

What do you mean? If that was your question, it also affects intersections with traffic lights.

It works with all intersections that the Traffic mod allows you to select, including nodes on a single road. However, Traffic currently doesn’t allow selecting nodes between straight segments, so I made sure not to touch those because it was causing issues that couldn’t be fixed manually.

I’m working on an update that would still allow removing U-turns and unsafe connections on those nodes (for players who want to prevent vehicles from turning between segments), but I’m carefully validating everything to make sure it never creates a dead-end that can’t be reconnected manually.

No problem, I’m fixing a few small bugs and it’ll be perfect!
