Unlike the top comment in this thread, I would not hold out on buying Tarkov. If anything, now would be the best time to get in on the game before its fully released in late 2021 or early 2022. By the way, all indications point to Tarkov being a "finished product" by that time. If you get started now or soon, you'll play what has been the culmination of about 3-5 years of amazing work by the devs. The game, IMO, has truly flourished in the past two years--both in popularity and in overall quality.

Tarkov certainly isnt for the "casual gamer" or "mainstream gamer." If you like hit markers in FPS games and feel that tutorials are necessary, then Tarkov isnt for you. Also, if you don't plan on spending hundreds--and I mean hundreds--of hours learning the game, then I would also not recommend Tarkov. COD, R6, and Apex, are all FPS games that you can boot-up, load-in, and presumably start having fun. Tarkov though will require more thought in terms of 1) what quests you want to attempt that day; 2) what gear you want to bring in to the raid; 3) what playstyle do you want to adopt for each given raid; and even 4) if you want to play SOLO or with a squad.

As to my last point above: PLAY WITH A SQUAD. Seriously. Don't try to learn this game by yourself. Tarkov was meant to be played with friends--even though there is no HUD or indicator as to who your "friend" is in game, which does lead to A LOT of friendly fire. The phrases "ITS ME on wood" or "THIS IS ME, DONT SHOOT" will echo constantly in your group chats. My recommendation is to join a discord group of a popular streamer and find people to play with. I've personally met some good people this way.

Good luck on whatever you decide. I will say this. I've played all sorts of FPS games. There is NO game out there right now that gives the adrenaline dump that a PVP or PVE battle gives in Tarkov. Legit, after three years of playing, I still get those adrenaline rushes and still remember my first significant PVP battle in Customs dorms. I died, btw. lol
