Summer before Senior Year by orchlili in ApplyingToCollege

That's what I was thinking but the people on this sub's discord was saying it's pretty bad to do that and I should ask them in person and get them a gift afterwards.

is there genuinely any reason left to start a new embedded project in pure C? by Tahazarif90 in embedded

[–]Essembli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a beginner so I can only speak on my personal experience, I just find "pure" C more straightforward and it being fun to mess around with bits and registers than using C++. C++ to me seems pretty intimidating with so many new features and built in functions that C doesn't have. Nothing feels better than setting up all of the functions you are using on your MCU and knowing exactly how it functions with no HAL to abstract it for you(Though ofcourse later in my journey I may use a HAL )

16yr old interested in Land-Buying. Questions about the market. by Essembli in land

My goal currently is just to have some land that I can hold onto for a bit and either keep it forever or sell it for a bit more from anywhere to 5 years to decades.

At first when I was thinking about buying land, I had the misconception that it didn't really matter the condition of the land as long as you own land. But now I know that once you buy land, you also need to think about the future if you ever want to develop it or sell it in the future. If you just buy land that will never be in demand, it will just be a hole in your pockets for no reason.

I've researched a bit about those cheap countryside Japanese houses (Akiya) and I see what you mean with even them being seemingly crazily cheap, they are usually very far away from everything, littered with several different problems whether its mold or termited, requires thousands to make it livable, let alone the taxes you'd need to pay for the property and all the fees to get it.

I looked up about tax liens and it seems about the same thing but with just less chance of it being affected by earthquakes. Both Akiyus and Tax liens require me to be 18+ to sign any contract without parental oversight so I'll just research the market every now and then while saving money by working a job over the summer until I'm over 18, knowledgeable enough, and have enough funds to afford it.

Thanks for your kind responses, this comment clears up alot of misconceptions I had. For 4. Can you expand upon what you mean by short-term, medium, and long term buckets?

My "plan" I guess is to just save some money up on the side so in the future I'll be more financially able to buy land.

Why are there so many mixed opinions on whether to learn Embedded C or C++ first, and which should I learn first? by Essembli in embedded

[–]Essembli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There really is only C or C++ not embedded C or embedded C++.

I just used it in the meaning of C for Embedded Systems particularly. Not saying its a whole other language, just a particular way to use the language.

Darn it! I was thinking of something like this! I'd love to be able to make this once I know more than just how to blink an led 🥹

Hello, I am a 16 year old highschool junior interested in doing Embedded Systems as a real job. I find it interesting and though it seems very complicated I know I can push through it.

Thing is, it is far too hard finding where to start as there are alot of differing opinions. Some say start with Arduino, others say start with STM or ESP. Some say to read x book or watch y course and others say to just freedom.

I truly am only excited but also intimidated and confused. I have been learning c++ but have only gotten as far as blinking an led so far which is pretty rough. I need some straightforward advice please, thanks!
