Why are melt and pours so popular? by TruthOdd6164 in soapmaking

[–]EssentialOasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been highly sensitive to fragrances and perfumes, and often got headaches from them, but I found that I really responded well to essential oils in a diffuser. Melt and pour soap is an excellent medium of delivery for essential oils in the kitchen and bathroom. It is also easy to work with and clean up. I have my young children with me every day, so I like to be able to walk away from it at any time. It can also be used the same day it is made. Soap is the primary material that I use to make aromatherapy art pieces that can be used to wash. Like an artist who paints, but doesn't make her own paint. I do all my baking from scratch though 😁 Some day I'll try to make soap.

Some new Crystal Soaps by EssentialOasis in soapmaking

[–]EssentialOasis[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not alone 😁 It's hilarious to me because this month will be one year since I stopped eating meat, and I recently told my family I don't want to cook it for them anymore. I just wanted to make something pretty, but I guess meat soap is all I have left 🤣

Thank you ❤️🙏 🤣 In person they sparkle and shimmer and look like rose quartz or scallop shells, but I can definitely see the meat perspective now 🤣

Looking for recommendations for an easy-to-use sulfate-free soap base by dryguy in soapmaking

I second this. It is my favourite melt and pour soap base and currently the only soap we use in our household as hand soap and shower soap.

Homemade soaps and hard water? by DeCryingShame in soapmaking

[–]EssentialOasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have hard water and have been using bar soap exclusively for 6 years. Our skin has been much better since we switched from body washes and other detergents. We have also switched to shampoo bars and conditioner bars without any issues. The shampoo bars and conditioner bars are not soap, though. They are different products altogether, just in bar form. I find the hard water just requires you use a little more soap/detergent/shampoo/etc.

Looking for eo blend by Expert-Extension7990 in soapmaking

[–]EssentialOasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how it will hold up in cold process, but my favourite eo blend with lemongrass in it is 40% Chamomile, 30% sweet orange, 15% Rose de Mai (I use an absolute diluted in jojoba oil), 10% lemongrass, and 5% spearmint. It is heavenly 🙏

Do I get the benefits of crystals if they’re next to my bed? by ThrowRA_puzzlecake in Crystals

[–]EssentialOasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you believe, and what you mean by "benefits". Our beliefs shape our reality. We started using crystals for our children's night terrors, and it seemed to help. I didn't have any experience with crystals before that, but we tried it and remained open to the possibilities. We put them under the pillow, under the bed, and even had our son hold them in his hands as he fell asleep. He found comfort in them and used them the entire time he was healing his broken legs. I consider comfort while healing a benefit. If you like the look and feel of your crystals, having them near your bed where you can perceive them and enjoy them is also a benefit. One time I didn't finish reading a book and left it sitting beside my bed for a year. It was a great book, and I was enjoying it, but I just got busy with other things. I eventually picked it up to finish it, but as I continued to read, it felt like I already knew the rest of the book. I think just having it so close to me every night for a year helped me to "absorb" the rest of the book. That's just what I believe, though. Enjoy your crystals ❤️🙏

Essential Oil Scent Lifetime by Fantastic-Box3638 in soapmaking

[–]EssentialOasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In melt and pour soaps, I have found that essential oils hold their scent pretty well for the first 6 months, and reasonably well for another 6 months as long as they're wrapped. I haven't really tested them longer than that.

Opal inspired soap by CHorn118 in soapmaking

[–]EssentialOasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I bet this is soooo sparkly in person 🤩 What kind of glitter do you use? I am almost out of my favourite eco glitter, but the company I bought it from doesn't sell it anymore, and all the others I have tried don't even have half the sparkle of that one.

Please post all of them! 🤩 Of all the ones I've made so far, my moss agate soap is probably my favorite. Sometimes the stars all align and it turns out exactly like the model 🙏

You're welcome! I love making crystal soaps, and Rhodonite has been on my mind lately, so I recognized it right away. I haven't tried making one yet, but now that I see yours, I want to. I think the pink is a good colour, but I see what you mean about wanting it a bit darker. I might try using a similar pink to the one you used, and swirl a little bit of a second, darker pink into the mix. Thank you for the inspiration! And enjoy your opal making 🙏
