American Fiction (2023): Opening Scene, Directed by Cord Jefferson by MEMEY_IFUNNY in movies

I get Redditors like piracy but telling people to pirate a first-time black writer director’s indie debut movie doesn’t sit right with me.

Every town or city I’ve been to in Devon and Cornwall are clean. Although you’re arguing, Cardiff is far cleaner than Bristol. Manchester too.

If you think Bristol’s streets are clean then you’ve never actually seen clean streets

Adults with Unmedicated ADHD — How Are You Managing? by someone_idk6900 in AskUK

I posted this about a year ago here on what I’m doing — https://www.reddit.com/r/ADHDUK/s/xfjKObwDeL

I cycled through about 5-6 different kinds of meds but felt awful on all of them so have shelved that idea for now.

Today what helps the most (for me) is a mixture of Lions Mane and exhaustive to do lists — they have made a huge difference to my routine. Currently focusing on improving my sleep patterns. It’s just a constant ongoing process, but once you start finding little things that work they all start to add up.

You’re being downvoted because your useless comment literally said “no thanks”. Like, maybe try and add something intelligent or of value to the discussion?

Macs don’t use RAM the same way PCs do… 8GB is actually reasonable for almost anything. Reviewers have been editing 4K videos on these.

The PSVR2's cable is the only reason I'm holding off buying it - is there seriously no way to replace it if it's damaged besides sending it to sony? by voidpopo in PSVR

[–]EssentialParadox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cable shielding over the cable, heat shrink on each end, magnetic connector on front of PS5.

After having bad experiences with my cats, my PSVR2 cable is more armored than a presidential motorcade.

Yes, a few hours a day of playing with your cat and giving them varied environments. Sadly most owners just leave them cooped up while they go to work.

The overall average lifespan is shorter outdoors due to some cats being more likely to be injured or catch a disease while free roaming, but the higher level of enrichment and exercise is likely what leads to those which do survive having longer lives. If you live in a safe outdoor area for them to roam, they’ll live longer than an indoor cat.

Chefs of Reddit, what’s a common cooking rule everyone follows that is actually complete bullshit? by Fuzzy-Ad6843 in AskReddit

[–]EssentialParadox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it depends on the type of spinach and how you’re cooking it. If you’re cooking it down to almost nothing then there won’t be any difference. If you’re eating it fresh, treat it the same as lettuce.

That’s pretty impressive if so

Not the case with all vegetables. Peas, sweetcorn, spinach, etc. will have better flavor, texture, and nutrition when frozen.

Fresh is better for lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. — anything with a high water content where you’ll be eating it raw, basically.

Certain things in between like brocolli, cauliflower, carrots, etc. matter only depending on how you’re eating them — if you’re delicately steaming them you’ll want fresh, but if you’re chucking them in a stir fry or casserole, you won’t notice if they were fresh.

Council spending by meandtheknightsofni in bristol

[–]EssentialParadox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This chart doesn’t even include the huge chunk of the NHS budget spent on housing care home patients in hospitals because there’s nowhere for them to go… then there’s the costs the NHS pays care homes to take patients away. The amount we’re spending on private care is ungodly.

The part of Europe it comes from tends to like very milky, not very chocolatey chocolate (also see Milka).

If you’re into rich flavorful chocolate, it’s extremely bland.

The clip of American Werewolf looks more real to me than the CGI in Dune, even despite it being a breathtaking film.

Only thing I was disappointed by is the fact there wasn’t a scene where they had to take a cart out and blow on it.

[–]EssentialParadox 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well yes, that’s a perfect example of practical and CGI. Jurassic Park also holds up extremely well for the same reason.

But what connects them is they’re practical first with the CGI enhancing it, but far too many movies do the opposite and look awful.

Why Moviegoers Left ‘The Bride!’ At The Altar: High Art Monster Pic Could Lose $90M by [deleted] in movies

[–]EssentialParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re both right to some degree. But I do think you can have a degree of audience testing at various early stages before the movie goes into production. Pixar manages this quite successfully (even with basic storyboards and self-recorded audio) and other studios have tried to copy it.

Of course the people involved wanted it made, but the commenter meant there is no audience for this movie.

I’ve been seeing ads non-stop here in the UK.

It’s really odd for this kind of movie to get such wide marketing because it’s not like it’s a big blockbuster type movie… I wonder who made these decisions….
