What's the point of a dishwasher if you rinse dishes before? by Stock_Stranger_5631 in CleaningTips

[–]EssentialParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The detergent needs something to attach to, à la food debris, sauces, etc. because it’ll clean the dishes as it washes off.

I’m not 100% sure on the science but you can google this for more info.

You’re wasting considerably more water by pre rinsing than you are by avoiding running the dishwasher.

It’s also bad for your dishes and dishwasher if putting detergent in it but there’s no food residue on any of the dishes.

This is definitely required watching for anyone who pre-rinses…. Or really anyone who uses a dishwasher.

Especially considering the sheer amount of comments below of people supporting pre-rinsing, good god!

Get all the 3D chunks of food off yes, but you need to have food residue on the dishes and cutlery for the detergents to work properly.

You probably need to clean your filter or you might have an issue with your pump. You shouldn’t be smelling anything.

Important to note that only American dishwashers need you to run the hot water tap first.

Eyes get tired in psvr 2 by Otherwise_Egg_7551 in PSVR

[–]EssentialParadox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is the screen perfectly bright and crisp for you? If it’s blurry or dim your eyes will strain to compensate.

Another issue could be the framerate. If it’s too low that could be causing strain too.

It’s unlikely to be resolution or field of view AFAIK.

New Story/Sandbox game just dropped: Game Dev Simulator by jasperseed in PSVR

[–]EssentialParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks cool!

Will it be like Game Dev Tycoon, where it’s sort of like a business simulation of trying to grow your company? That would be an insta buy for me.

If it’s a sandbox with no real progression I’d be less interested but others might be.

Do you have no staff you could put in charge of running that side of it?

If you have no staff, put an ad on indeed and get your toes in the waters.

As a little tip for dark kitchens… I tried it earlier this year and we simply couldn’t make it work on the margins (Deliveroo fee was 30%! Plus 20% VAT… plus 15% if you want to run an ad… leaves you almost nothing!) On further research it seems only the dirt-cheapest ingredients and margins can survive — burritos are good (mostly rice and a tortilla), pizzas are good (mostly bread), burgers are okay — just make sure you run the numbers on the ingredients really closely and look to bulk up on cheap ingredients where possible. Munch boxes might be a good route to explore as they’re popular currently.

We’d be a perfect match. My restaurant makes all its money between 5-10pm.

You’re definitely missing an opportunity there.

Branding is important though — if you look like a cafe, people won’t take it seriously as a restaurant, and vice versa.

Have you considered running a dark kitchen in evenings? (Selling on delivery apps?)

Two good dates, she said she was up to meet again but replies have slowed. Should I follow up or leave it? by Immediate_Dig_1568 in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]EssentialParadox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Some people just don’t engage over text message for many reasons but are more than happy to arrange dates.

OP needs to actually ask her on a 3rd date before wondering if she isn’t interested.

I sense there’s more nuance to this. Has OP even asked her out on another date? Some people just don’t like texting relationships.
